Kahaani grosses Rs 75 crore at the Box Office - Page 3

Kahaani likely to cross 50 crores!

Kahaani has exceeded expectations at the box office and is easily the bigger winner of the year after Agneepath. After a 24 crore first week, the Sujoy Ghosh directed film, held up very well in Week 2 with approximately Rs 17.5 crore collections. The drop is less than 30% from Week 1.

Below is the breakdown

• 1st weekend ' 13 crore
• Week 1 ' 24 crore
• 2nd weekend ' 10 crore
• Week 2 ' 17.5 crore
• Total so far ' 41.5 crore

The collections are so strong that the film has beaten the lifetime collections of Ek Main Aur Ek Tu in less than 2 weeks! That's a staggering achievement considering the fact that EMAET was produced by Karan Johar, featured two big stars (Imran and Kareena) and also was a much more commercial film.

Kahaani was a big test for Vidya Balan, but more than her star power, it's the film's strong content that has reaped box-office gold.

In week 3, the number of shows at multiplexes are lower due to the release of Agent Vinod. The drop is likely to be around 60% this week. Still, we expect Kahaani to cross the 50 crore mark by the end of Week 3 or during it's fourth weekend.
