and here is the 3rd part!
By the time Arnav had come grumbling out of the room Khushi had already spoken to nani and Anjali and was waiting by the car for Arnav to come.
And soon Khushi sat in the passenger seat with Zaina in her lap and Arnav glanced at her once and opened his mouth to ask her to dump the brat in to the back seat but thought better of it thinking of all the good that it did to him for all his advice he tried to give earlier. Instead he settled to asking Khushi to put the seat belt on which she had forgotten.
Khushi flashed him a smile and did as asked and very soon she had turned Zaina in her lap and the two of them very much involved in a talk that consisted of lots of names that eluded Arnav's grasp like My little ponies and some little mermaid and the colours and the dresses of a Barbie something's. Only thing he figured was they were very weird indeed.
The journey was tiring as the traffic was pretty heavy and the temperature was above 40 degrees. Finally they reached there around 2.30 and after getting down they started walking towards the entrance when suddenly Khushi stopped and slapped her head, "I almost forgot! Arnav open the car, Zaina's bag in it!"
Arnav: she didn't bring a bag!
Khushi: I did..I mean I just brought some snacks and a change of clothes for her just in case.
Arnav: why would she need a change of clothes Khushi, we just came to the zoo!
Khushi: Arnav she is 4! Anyway gimme the keys I'll go and bring it.
Arnav asked her to just wait and went and collected the bag and came. And by that time Khushi and Zaina was standing in the queue to collect the tickets and Arnav joined them.
And as soon as they got inside Khushi asked Zaina what she wanted to see first.
Zaina: Birds!! I saw a peacock in TV and it was so pretty! Are there peacocks in the zoo?
Khushi: yes sweety, come on let's go.
She held Zaina's hand and made her way towards the aviary where the birds were. And Arnav trailed behind the two of them.
Zaina: Khushi aunty is that a bird? It is in snow!! Can n I go in there too! I love snow!
Khushi: sweety those are penguins, and no we can't go inside we have to watch from outside. See that door is closed.
said Khushi pointing at the door at the back of the penguin enclosure.
After a while they had watched lots of species of birds and even Arnav had started enjoying after having watched how Zaina & Khushi had given each other competition trying to talk with the parrots! He had a small smile playing around his face seeing how much fun Khushi was having with Zaina, but totally ignoring him!
And then they came to the huge pool where the Dolphins performed for the visitors and checked if the show was on that evening. And luckily enough there was a performance in another 30 minutes.
Khushi: Arnav remind me to get back in another 15 minutes ok, until then we will walk around.
Arnav: Ok
And he was bored once again as Khushi and Zaina led the way.
And they were walking around for a while when they came to the place where the peacocks were and Zaina squealed in delight and ran towards the open area where the peacocks were leaving Khushi's hand.
Khushi: Zaina wait!
And she quickly ran after Zaina and held her hand asking her to stand a little way off. And as Zaina promised to do so Khushi turned back to see Arnav who looked completely bored by this time and was walking in a snail's pace behind them. She walked back towards him and asked,
Khushi: come on Arnav, why do u look so down?
She cupped his face in her hands and looked in to his eyes, trying to read him.
Arnav: nothing Khushi,
And tried to shrug off her hands, but she held on and softly asked,
Khushi: did u feel neglected? I'm so sorry Arnav, but I had to be with Zaina no..
Khushi turned back to glance at Zaina who was now delightedly dancing round and round just like the peacocks were doing flapping her outstretched arms like wings! And she had a fond smile as she turned back towards her other kid, her sulking husband!
Arnav: of course u had to look after her..she is four and I am just ur husband''.
He trailed off trying to divert Khushi's attention as he had already given away how he felt with that sentence. But Khushi had a different idea as she again put her arms around his waist and snuggled to him looked up at his face and asked,
Khushi: aren't u happy that we are together?
Arnav: that is the only reason I came..
Khushi looked at him with a small smile playing around her lips and asked,
Khushi: aww really? That is like my sweet husband!! So u came cz of me and not cz Anjali di ordered u to?
Arnav now looking flustered said,
Arnav: ok ok may be that too.. but I came right?
Khushi: but why do u look so upset? Tell me
Arnav: I was missing u from yesterday and u have time for everyone else except me nowadays!
Khushi stared incredulously at him!
Khushi: Arnav seriously? How can u even say that! Yesterday we were dancing together for so many songs! u didn't let me even have a single dance with anyone else!how many times did Nanneji come and ask me! and u said no! And then we slept in each other's arms and in the morning we went shopping and now we are together again! So how come you say u missed me! I was there with u all the time!
Arnav: yesterday all those pesky people were at the party who was interrupting and then di asked everyone to come to our bedroom and u fell asleep while they were talking! And today u were more interested to talk to the sari shop people than me and ever since that brat came u are ignoring me!
Khushi laughed hearing his long list of complaints! And Arnav looked down angrily at her. Khushi just shook her head and asked,
Khushi: how could u say that Arnav! She is so cute!! I hope our baby will be just like her!
Arnav: oh no! Our baby will be very nice and sweet and not a brat like her! She after all will be Arnav Singh Raizada's daughter!
Khushi muttered to herself, 'that is what I am afraid of!'
Arnav: what did u say?
Khushi looked up with a total innocent expression and said,
Khushi: oh nothing
Arnav: u did say something.
Khushi: I was just saying u should stop sulking and enjoy the time we are together!
Arnav: but we don't have any privacy at all!! Some one or the other is always around! And speaking of which, no one is around and I think it is time for me to..
saying this Arnav scooped up Khushi off her feet to his height and started passionately kissing her. And after Khushi got over her initial shock she started kissing him back and almost got lost in the moment with Arnav..when she heard the sound of voices and quickly came to her senses and wriggled out of Arnav's arms!
Arnav: now that is what I call quality time!
Khushi(blushing furiously): Arnav! We have a kid with us! What if she had seen!
Arnav: nope, she is too busy being a peacock for that! Look the little brat is still dancing!
And that got Khushi's attention back to Zaina and she decided it was enough as Zaina will probably get too tired in a little while. So she just ignored Arnav and walked towards her and took her hand and,
Khushi: it is time to see the Dolphins! Let's go! Say bye bye to the peacocks!
Zaina waved her hands at the peacocks as they walked back on the way towards the Dolphin show pool
People were gathering around by the time they got there and soon they were seated and luckily they were just near the pool close enough to touch the dolphins.
And then the show started and soon they were laughing and watching until a dolphin splashed close to them covering them in water! And Khushi and Zaina laughed even more while a highly irritated Arnav brushed the water away from his clothes.
And soon it was the end of the show and everyone started moving away. And for a second Khushi let go of Zaina's hand and turned to Arnav to ask him where to go now and in a blink Zaina was moving towards the pool and slowly sliding her feet in it!
Luckily Arnav was turned towards that side and in the corner of his eye he saw it and cried,
Arnav: Zaina!
And moved in a flash to hold the little girl!
Splash!
He just got there in time to hold on to Zaina's hand and drag her out of the pool like a fish just before she went down!!
Khushi who had turned to see all that happened screamed 'Zaina' and ran to the two of them just a few feet away from her.
She quickly held on to a completely drenched Zaina and hugged her close, thanking devi mayya for letting Arnav get there in time..And Arnav put an arm around her waist comfortingly and they walked away from there. And for the moment Arnav put away the thought of how much of a trouble the little bundle of trouble was turning out to be and concentrated on comforting Khushi who looked pretty upset..he himself felt scared as to what would have happened if he had gotten there only a second too late.
Khushi: Zaina! sweety don't ever do that again!
Zaina: but aunty u let me put my legs in the pool in ur house!
Arnav: Zaina it isn't deep like this!
replied Arnav before Khushi said anything..
Zaina: what is 'deep'?
Arnav turned and looked at the little brat in Khushi's arms and said: the pool is deep!
Zaina: why is the pool deep?
Arnav: because it is deep!
Zaina repeats: but uncle why is it deep?
Arnav (grimaced! n though Kids!) : don't ur questions ever end?
Zaina: no! mama says i always have a new question! and i'll never run out of questions!
Arnav: oh great!
but luckily Zaina had forgotten what she was asking by that time and Arnav sighed in relief!
Khushi who was a little shaken up from the near miss soon recovered and thought of changing Zaina's clothes as she was completely wet.
And they walked towards the Zoo washrooms,
Khushi: Arnav thank god u got there in time! i don't know what would have happened..
Arnav held her closer and said: shhh.. khushi don't think about it.. everything is fine now..hmm..go ahead and change her..
and Khushi took Zaina inside and got her changed. And soon they were on their way to more animal watching and Khushi perked up considerably after seeing some monkeys and again getting back in to the usual fun mood with Zaina.
After a while,
Khushi: Arnav, I'm hungry!
Arnav: u r always hungry!u ate only one hour back in the car!
Khushi(with her hands on her hips): so?
Arnav smiled thinking typical Khushi..when did she think of anything else! And since she got pregnant she practically stuffed herself every half hour and everytime he teased her about it she huffed and said 'she was eating for two!', 'As if she didn't get hungry all the time before too' thought a smirking Arnav!
Khushi: Zaina is getting hungry too!
Arnav: oh really? Nice excuse Khushi! No need to lie I'll take u to the restaurant, it is a little way ahead, I just read some directions to it.
And soon they were walking towards the restaurant in the zoo..
