Ok this is the first time I am posting a topic in the debate mansion...and I was just wonderin does skin color still matter in India....do ppl still favor fair skin than dusky......i mean once I was watchin Kandy Floss and there was a discussion where sum1 said if Priyanka and AB Jr get married they will have dark babies...i think that was kind of a rude comment...I mean if we look at the facts the hottest bollywood actresses that most males would perfer is Bipasha Basu who is dusky....also another incident was when I was in my chemisty class we were doing a project where we have to make babies using the chromone codes and my partner was this puerto rican girl who has white skin and the codes we had said that we have a dark brown baby...and then she got all pissed and said that itz ugly that if a baby is dark brown...Personally I am brown not too dark and not too light....but i was just wondering what you guyz think about skin color and how fair skin is favored more than brown or darker skin

I agree with you.

I have seen some of the most gorgeous attractive dark people and super unnattractive and gross fair people.

I seriously don't see the point. White people in America are tanning and burning themselves in tanning beds to death for a deep dark glow while I see Indian and other dark skinned people in other places slathering on tubes after tubes of fairness creams.😕

Whhhhyyyyyyy!!!?????

My aunt, who hates me, is trying to get me to get married as soon as possible, and she is like you should get married beta, tumhara rang itna sona aur chita hain, saare larkey tere peeche aayenge.😡 I am like buzz off lol😆

And I seriously get so mad when dark people try to get there sons or daughters get married to light skin people, because the kids can turn out dark skinned. Will the shun the kid and make him or her feel bad?

So I say before you decide to bleach your skin or curse yourself for being dark, first think of all the white American people who risk skin cancer and burn themselves black to get the skin color you were blessed with.😆

It's a sad fact, but what you said is true. Even African Americans don't prefer dark women. Most of the Black models you see are not that dark and even if they are dark, they have western features.
About the Purto Rican girl, she is talking like that because that has been ingrained in her like the rest of us. She has mixed Spanish and European blood in her and she is made to believe that White skin is beautiful.
I am fair skin, but I remember my mother used to tell me to stay away from sun because she didn't want me to get dark. I hate that add about "Fair and lovely," where this dark skin girl is admiring fair skin model and she is wishing ," I hope I can become like her." Then the add claims ," use fair and lovely and you will have fame too." How degrading!!!!!!!!!
In North India...can't say anything about South because I am not from there, parents of dark skin girl end up giving more dowry. This is to compensate for the dark skin.

You know what's funny...If Bipasa Basu wasn't in Media, her parenta would have had hard time marrying her. It's sad..Even when she is dark, in movies they put tones of make up on her to make her as light as possible and she still comes out dusky. I think she is gorgeous . she should be glad that she is movies

And John loves her the way she is, despite being dusky. And John is fair, I would hope people would take this as an example and realize that dark skin can be beautiful.😃

As you mentioned it's true fair skin supremacy is universal, so is in India. "Gorey raang ka jamana kabhi hoga na purana". In shaadi ad, you will always see "Looking for fair....blah-blah".

Bipasha is stunning woman, and a Bengali. And you know one thing that Bengalis are little better than the North Indians in this respect. Now a days, mostly they don't practice dowry(at least in cities, not sure about villages - what ever girl's parents wish to gift their daughter), colour also does not matter that much in many cases and more and more you will see them practicing and believing in love-marriages. So, I don't think Bipasha's parents would have faced any such problem.

i totally agree with u monica...i find it so weird that americans try to tan themselves by lying in the sun, spraying on tan and stuff like that and so many of them look down upon ppl who dont have fair skin....real crazy!!🤢...

Skin colour's still a problem but not as big as before. I have experience.

I am quite dark and I go to an international English school in Kuwait. I have some really nice friends - one is Indian and one is English. My English friend is probably the only nice fair person in the school.

I'm sick and tired of this racism thing. These Kuwaiti kids think I'm a good for nothing because I'm dark. But I don't really care about them.

People should not be judged for the way they look on the outside. There are several dark women who have been made Miss World/Universe/Asia-Pacific. People should be judged for their personalities.

Hope i didn't make u guys sleep.
