It has a lot to do w/ leaving a bad taste in one's mouth. Imagine screwed w/ shows like Bandini & Jyoti (interfering w/ the CVs and dictating story content), and since going from NDTV to Turner, was a lot less patient w/ shows and demanded instant results. And since it got it in some cases w/ KMH2 and GkD, they expected that from all shows, so if a show didn't show up in the top 100 after 3 weeks, they'd start interfering.

Take Rakt Sambandh. The story started slow, and was about a blind girl who was tricked into a marriage w/ a eunuch, and who discovered it and started getting tortured by her sasural once she had discovered it. Oh, and the sasural was also behind her father's murder. She attempted to cause an accident to kill both herself & her hubby, got back her sight after treatment, and infiltrated her sasural under a new identity, and caused enough dissentions among them that in the end, she could send them to jail. This was in January.

During this time, that show had TRPs >1 - it started low, but shot high after she regained her eyesight and started waging a war on her in-laws. After January, they moved the time slot from 10pm to 7pm, and TRPs tanked. To make things worse, the CVs made it a saas-bahu show for a while, and after a bit of that, pulled the plug. The original USP - about 5 sisters w/ different struggles - was long forgotten. Aslo note - after the first 2 months, there were hardly any promos for the show from the channel, even for major events like the lead gal's 2nd marriage, or the original lead guy's death.

I just mentioned RS. Imagine started off some shows w/ low following, like AkBA, and then interrupted it by killing the lead and inserting Dolly Vrinda. So obviously, people who follow that are pissed. Bandini & Jyoti fans are pissed by the endings those shows got. So people who didn't like what Imagine did to their favorites have left the channel in droves.

GkD & KMH2 are lucky that their USPs were TRP +++ for them, and so they didn't have to change it. I think they'll continue to do well. But other shows that didn't give instant results have gotten the shaft from the channel. Given what it is now, they should switch to an all Reality show format.

Example of what I was talking about was this news item on TellyBuzz:

Shreya Creation's next on Imagine TV...

Note that all the shows on the channel started late last year or this year. So there is none that really merits being pulled, except maybe BAVD, where it seems there's nothing left to show. Yet Imagine is likely to look for candidates to put either on the chopping block, or move them to the 7-8pm time-frame, so that they can introduce the new shows.

That's what I mean. We saw what happened w/ RS, and something similar could happen w/ any of the shows. So if you were a loyal viewer of any of them, be it GkD, BAVD, KMH2 or other, and suddenly they pulled the plug on your fav show and gave it a hastened and ridiculous ending, would you feel like watching another show from the same channel? I won't, and since I don't get Imagine TV, it's all the easier. I watch GkD and BAVD online, like I did RS. But I won't bother w/ BBGC, LD or this new Shreya productions show (although the theme sounds great) Once I'm done w/ them, I'll stop watching TV altogether - except for cricket.

So just as I've been turned off by the treatment of RS, others have left in droves due to the treatment of Bandini, Jyoti, PKCM or other shows. End result - nobody wants to keep getting disappointed by the channel.

hey vrish i understand ur point

some good shows do lose plot in btwn and then the slot changes and trps go down

looteri dulhan is sort of based on some news of such crime in haryana sector but here story is still not appealing to public mind

mayb some do like it hopin for something good

bheendni i dont even understand

gkd and bavd had a strong background story both started same bt look where gkd reached and bavd lost plot

gkd has some appeal in terms of story or lead even if some stupid tracks came and with new track ppl r returning to watching it

but then its upto viewers and channel to maintain it

BBGC is about a guy in a big family who is a total goofball, but whose family is very strictly medieval - the bahus are only allowed in the kitchen, they have some rituals going on all the time and a huge barrage of rules, like no activities on Thursdays, and so on. The lead gal is a student who wants to become a doctor and has just taken her exams. Her parents are supportive of her ambitions, but her Dadi* is a gawar who won't rest in peace until she is married. So the first few episodes have been about her Dadi trying to get her married and now seeing potential suitors, while on the guy's end, he's eternally day dreaming and wants to just get married and enjoy life. The way the story currently is, they are about to meet.

According to the summary, this girl goes on to get married to this guy, and that's when her troubles are likely to start, since she wants to continue her studies, while that goes against the traditions of that family. So essentially, it's a thinly disguised saas-bahu show, since she will have one bitch of an MIL and 4 jethanis.

I don't watch it - I watched the first week and then stopped. I just concluded that from what's been written about it in the show promos.

* I've noticed that in all these shows, the Dadis are not just Taraka like tyrants, but they are all as healthy as bullocks. Other characters in these shows may fall ill and the younger characters may go thru 10 years leaps, but these Dadis remain as hale & hearty as ever, fit to torment even the next generation. Too bad nobody thinks of getting cyanide into their meals. 😈

actually imagine has better shows with better concepts compared to other channels but it is inexplicable why do they ruin their shows after a certain period 😔 .... are they planning to shut their doors by themselves 😕 & so losing their viewers 😕......
