Body
Fitness ' "Fitness for me is something I am always vying for as staying fit is an essential part of one's well-being! However, fitness is not only crucial physically but also mentally and emotionally. Contrary to popular belief, fitness is not only about exercising or hitting the gym but it's a process in which one needs to take care of their eating and sleeping habits as well as their personal happiness and satisfaction.
I juggle between hitting the gym thrice a week and practicing martial arts. While, I don't enjoy gymming much, it's necessary and so I balance it with practicing martial arts, which I really enjoy. I have learnt kick boxing and now am training in Wing Chun the Chinese martial art and Kung fu. Besides this I love to dance, it is my passion, which is an excellent form of exercise. I play tennis, which is great fun. Also I like horse riding, which is a hobby that has the added benefit of fitness.
Diet ' I have five meals in a day and like to spread them out throughout the day as that is good for one's metabolism. Eating every few hours is important. Also, I avoid eating after 8pm as it's crucial to have a gap between the last meal of the day and one's beauty sleep.
My meals consist of a mix of non-vegetarian dishes along with salads. I like lobsters and chicken. I usually have light dinner. In summer, I have a glass of lime juice daily as it's refreshing. Whenever, I do well I like to treat myself with aloo parathas topped with butter as it's my favourite.
Mind
I meditate 20-25 minutes daily. Occasionally when I am stressed, I listen to music. My personal favourites are Nirvana, Kenny G and ghazals by Abida Parveen. Besides horse riding, martial arts and tennis, I love making films. For me entertainment and film making is a process. Not only do I like to study this process, but I am also creating my own short films on various topics such as schizophrenia.
Spirit
I don't follow any rituals, though I pray. For me spirituality is about discovering oneself. Introspection is also a crucial part of my life, as I like to assess all that has happened so far to plan my next decisions in life.
The one book that has inspired me the most is Quantum Leap Thinking by James Mapes. It's a self-help book and the author has a science background. Interestingly the author is a psychologist, hypnotist, motivational speaker and he writes about how one can lead a normal life. Since the author has a science background, I find it easier to connect and most of his methods are backed by scientific reasoning's. The book has an analysis of the principles of quantum leap thinking. Among these tenets are setting goals, being committed, turning fear into power, and so on. These concepts when used effectively together, helps people change their live.
My motto is something I had written in 9th standard: Ships in the harbour are safe but that is not what they are meant for! One has to take risks and be brave."
