I guess the reality of his own child's death had seeped through his head brains. When he wanted to kill Arpita for disowning him, he was acting like a dad who wanted to punish his child but he got over it and had accepted her decision despite the fact he had hated Avdhesh.
However it's different when you have to bury your own child, it shld be the other way around.
