Aneet Padda’s sister Reet exits social media after viral ‘propaganda’ claim on Dhurandhar

Aneet Padda’s sister Reet Padda has deactivated her social media accounts after facing backlash over her remarks on Dhurandhar 2. The controversy began after she described the film as “propaganda” in an online exchange that quickly went viral.

Reet had responded to an Instagram user while discussing the Ranveer Singh starrer. Her comments were widely circulated through screenshots, leading to strong reactions from sections of social media users. Many criticised her view, while others engaged in a broader debate about films and political messaging.

In her post, Reet wrote, “For Dhurandhar, it literally serves as a government-friendly narrative, using political speeches to justify, say, the minor hiccup of demonetisation. Call it propaganda? Yep. Deny it? Not a chance. But maybe your definition of propaganda is...different, who knows.” The remark drew immediate attention and triggered a wave of trolling.

She also referred to The Kashmir Files and added, “The films apparently enjoy a bit of creative math: ‘32,000 women converted to Islam!’ when real cases barely scrape a few hundred. But hey, that's how propaganda works, right? Take a sliver of truth, sprinkle in some absurdly inflated numbers, and suddenly you've got a full blown narrative against a community… I never said the problems didn't exist, but these films clearly push a certain narrative and deviation is apparently optional. I'd love to hear about the ‘real’ ground reality from someone in the know...if only you weren't hiding behind a faceless, anonymous account.”

Following the backlash, Reet first made her Instagram account private. Soon after, the profile became inaccessible, displaying a message that the page may have been removed. Her LinkedIn profile is also no longer visible, indicating a complete withdrawal from public platforms for now.

About the film, Dhurandhar 2 is the sequel to the 2025 release that performed strongly at the box office. The story follows an Indian intelligence officer navigating criminal and political networks in Pakistan. Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film features Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal in key roles.

While the film has received positive audience response, it has also sparked debate. Actors like Anupam Kher and Piyush Mishra have dismissed the propaganda tag, maintaining that the film presents its narrative as intended.
