The sanctity of Banaras wins rave reviews

Urmila Matondkar returned to the silver screen after a short break with Banaras and the film has gained her rave reviews. The actress who has turned quite selective about her roles off lately seems to have taken the perfect decision by choosing Banaras, as the film does full justice to her talent. Even Ashmit Patel has won recognition as an actor of substance with this film. Needless to add, seasoned performers like Naseruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia and Raj Babbar are impressive in the film.

In an age of formula flicks, Banaras comes in as a refreshing deviation from the usual masala stuff. Set on the backdrop of the oldest living city on the planet, Banaras scripted and produced by L C Singh and directed by Pankuj Parashar has managed to fascinate the audience with its simplicity and sincerity and at the same time has also earned good reviews in the media.
