Rani - Rani in my opinion is definitely more talented than Madhuri as I feel she has more potential than Madhuri...but yeah, she hasn't done a lot extraordinary work to be called "the queen" or "the best." You know something's wrong when a film like Hum Tum is one of your best performances ever. That film was so ordinary, and her role was nothing different than the everyday female performances one sees in bollywood. I think the thing with Rani is...she had no competition when she got famous btwn 04-06 or whenever it was...Preity Zinta, who I guess was somewhat of her competition? was doing retarded films herself...so there was no "rat race" when Rani was doing well, hence she just looked better than others at that time...whereas, in general her performances weren't all THAT great.


To be honest, this is bollywood...you really can't expect bollywood to come out with stuff that would make you go "WOW, now that's something I've never seen before - great work." As much as we'd like for it happen, it just can't. The typical bollywood movie fan will not accept a movie unless it's the typical bollywood stuff which is why these actors/actresses don't do extraordinary work..and I doubt they're even presented with great scripts because the scriptwriters don't think outside the box either...it's really really rare if they do.

WOW, I think this is the first time am agreeing with you. You spoke my mind. I agree totally with everything. I also think Rani is more talented than Maduri. Rani is a good actress...but to be honest...not many films that she has done that can be called path breaking performance. The only one i can think of is Black. But one film that I think she acted extremely well is kind of weird and sad at the same time because she is considered such a good/perfect actress. Overrated much!
