What is your definition of an icon?

😃😃😃 My last two topics did not generate enough "interest," so I am hoping the third time is the charm today. In this topic, I want to explore the definition of an icon and how it relates to Bollywood. Past or present, we have seen a lot of icons in the Bollywood industry. An icon is someone who inspires us. We like their movies, the way they interact with fans, their sex appeal, personality, etc. But, the main thing about an icon is that they have a big impact on movies and make history, whether it is critical acclaim, box office, or in some other fashion.

You can select an icon in the last 10 years, 20 years, or even someone from the current lot who you think has the potential to be in this level.

What is your definition of an icon? Please share your thoughts and let's get this topic on the road please!

In an icon I look for two things:

First thing I want to see in them is nice attitude. No attitude problems like basically just staying to themselves and their work.

Second I want to know that they worked really hard to achieve what they have today. And that they deserve it.

Obviously my icon is Katrina Kaif

icon to me is someone who have achieved a lot in their career. In terms of bollywood...doing great films and showing versatility and great acting. Also an icon is someone who an a new artist will look up too. Let's say a new comer is coming into bollywood and they want to be a great actress/actor/superstar/do great films/act really well and get awards...that actor/actress they look up to is considered an icon. So I would say Kareena, SRK, Kajol, Rani, Amitab and Maduri are icons...well these are the few names that come to my mind...am sure there is more. I have seen a lot of new comer actress say that they like the work that Kareena has done and they would like to follow her footstep ect. Same for Maduri, SRK, and others I mentioned.

IMO... Icon is too big a word to be used for someone in Bollywood....

Icon is someone who would inspire me... who I would look up to....

and none in Bollywood fit the bill.... 😊

Not just bollywood... but everyone is flawed.. be it a bollywood figure.. holly figure.. someone in sports.. a legend .. or a leader.. the whole concept of expecting an idol or icon to be flawless.. doesn't make sense.. all these people just specialize in something.. and that is something one can appreciate about them.. other than taht you cannot expect anyone to be flawless...

Guys the topic doesn't have to be about who you idolize. It can be someone who a lot of new comers in bollywood would look up to. Recall that movie I want to be Maduri Dixit or something like that. There is a reason why the movie was made...because she is an icon.

And the title says what's your def of an icon, not who is your icon! 😆
