Should Bwood actors stop attempting Hwood?

😕 We have seen so many actors in Bollywood attempt a run in Hollywood, but it didn't work out to their favor. Aish tried with Bride and Prejudice, Provoked, Mistress of Spices, Last Legion, and Pink Panther 2. But, except Bride and Prejudice and Provoked (to a certain extent), none of the films worked and she has not signed another international film since. When she did international films, Bollywood started to think she didn't care about Indian movies. But, over the last couple of years, her fascination with Hollywood has dwindled. The only actor that has made it big (in recent memory) is Anil Kapoor. He is coming in the biggest crossover role in a Hollywood film with Tom Cruise in the upcoming Mission Impossible 4. But, it is not a lead role. Just a supporting role!

I know we should be proud of Anil Kapoor. But, I am kind of dissapointed because he probably might not get a "full-fledged" role in a Hollywood production. Biphasa Basu is attempting it now with this upcoming film with Josh Hartnett. BTW, this was a film Aish was supposed to do years ago, but she will not do kissing scenes.
The truth is, if you want to make it in Hollywood, you got to have amazing PR skills and be willing to make it a full-time career. You can't have a few "miss and blink" appearances in a couple of years.
There is to much competition in Hollywood and the numbers game is not prevalent there. Do you think Bollywood actors should stop attempting Hollywood once and for all? Or, do you think they can still do it? Only time will tell.

I don't know. I think it might be hard for them to balance between their hollywood and bollywood careers. IF Aish couldn't make it big in hollywood, I don't think any other actress can. It can also have to do with luck actually. I think Anil might make it big.

I think if an actor or actress has the shot, then they should. Look at Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Diane Kruger, Colin Firth and a whole bunch of British actors😆, Christoph Waltz, and Jackie Chan. They are not native to the Hollywood film industry in California but they have made a mark for themselves in the eyes of Americans, as well as international viewers.

There's also Padma Lakhsmi who's well known here and a whole bunch of Indian-ethnic show-people like Kal Penn, Mindy Kaling, and Aziz Ansari coming up.

I think Aish limited herself in her case. To deny to work with legendary actors because of kissing seems too much to me, especially in this day and age where you have BBB with Anushka and Ranveer. But I guess that's the price she's willing to pay to uphold her (in-laws) name.

And to be honest, I don't think a lot of people I know have seen Bride and Prejudice even though a bit more have seen Bend It Like Beckham. They (and I) were more obsessed with the Kiera Knightley Pride and Prejudice that came out at around the same time. I remember reading a review of Bride and Prejudice in my local newspaper and the writer opined that Aish's beauty actually takes away from her acting. As an American I can say that she can come on Oprah as many times as she pleases and we here may consider her the most beautiful person in the world, but in movies she is just considered a showpiece.

I think Bollywood actors who have the passion to go into roles without any restraints such as "kissing" has a shot in Hollywood.

Well I guess it all depends upon the actor/actress and what they are capable of doing. Frankly I don't see the fascination with Btown stars trying their luck in Hollywood. Hollywood & Bollywood are just about equal. Hollywood is just a bit more ORIGINAL with their scripts.

If an actor/actress hasn't made their mark in Bollywood, then I don't think it is worth taking the risk in Hollywood. I think you should be an established star in Bollywood first.

Honestly I just wish our well known bollywood stars just stuck to bollywood instead of worrying about worldwide recognition!

I think it is the script you choose, Aishwariya chose the worst movies to act in with the exception of Provoked. Even Will Smith wanted to work with her and she turned him down from what I heard, that would have made her career. It looks like she picks movies that will still appeal to her Indian audience when choosing Hollywood movies to star in. She also doesn't pick full fledged Hollywood movies, they usually border somewhere in the middle of Hollywood/Bollywood.

I don't think they should stop, neither will they, if anything, you will see an increase in crossovers on both sides in the coming years.

Could you imagine a Hrithik Roshan & Will Smith movie, I think that would be something great.

Aish was a established star and did nearly 20 films before she did international projects! Biphasa is attempting Hollywood after nearly 10 years in Bollywood! But, someone who has done only 5 to 10 films should not attempt Hwood! 😊
