Note: Please do not bash me for what I'm writing below. I also like Daya, and I think he has great potential in the show. Lets have a nice discussion. Below is my UNBIASED opinion.
My two cents: Coordination and choreography
Daya and Vrushali were not in coordination today. He seemed to be forgetting steps at places and seemed to be following her. That sort of got reflected on his face too.
I agree with Remo, that the steps were more or less basic- except for the lifts and 'catching' and hanging part. That was good. I remember a Bhangra performance of Hiten and Gauri in NB- they had done quite similar 'basic' steps and there Saroj Khan had also said the same thing- that there is much more to Bhangra than these basic steps.
Now these two points have nothing to do with polished or unpolished dancer, right people? Come on- be fair. Shekhar Suman lost points for these two same reasons. It was just an unlucky day for Daya that he forgot a few steps- he'll do better next time, I'm sure.
I'm actually surprised that two of the judges gave him 8. I was scared that he would get less- and I didn't want him to be sad cos of it, since it looked from the rehearsal that he had actually put in a lot of effort into the dance (I feel bad when anyone is criticised for dancing). It is very disappointing when everyone else is appreciated and one person gets less. The ladies were very sweet to him I felt, and that was nice.
Cheer up people! This one will serve as a potion to lit the fire in him and do better. Sometimes setbacks bring up the best in us.
Besides- I feel the trained dancer issue is more of a drawback. Sushant, a trained dancer, got 23 when he was praised sky high by judges (first performance). Daya got 23 today when he was reprimanded by judges for not doing so well. So you can see the difference. A trained dancer will ALWAYS be scrutinised much much more. Its not really an advantage at times people, I hope you do think on that.
Once more, I hope you will not bash me. Just my honest opinion. I'm open to discussion however. I criticise whenever I don't like any participant's performance, even if its Sushi- whom I criticised on his first performance.
Peace.
