Do you give a damn what the critics say?

🤢 We know that critics want to be helpful in determining if movies are good or not, but sometimes they can be more harmful than helpful. If a critic gives a movie a bad review, does that affect your judgment in viewing or passing on a film? In the case of Guzaarish, the critics loved the movie, but the audience didn't seem to care in seeing it. But, movies like Singh is King or Housefull which were trashed by critics, the audience did not seem to care and made them superhits anyway.

Why should we give a damn about what critics say?

Each individual can judge a movie for themselves. Some will like it, others will not. Simple as that. Then who cares whether it was a hit, flop, or average movie. Again opinions will certainly differ. Its not like the audience opinion will change much.

First of all, were do you get your information from. Because G3 was not trashed. 80 percent of the reviews were positive. It was AR that was trashed. And audience did listen to the critics than.

yup...but not silly ones like addy boy...who give 4 stars to anything....i trust masand..coz i find my taste similar to his as far as muvies are concerned...i might still go to watch sum muvies which he trashed....but chances are i wont like it either....

hes the only reviewer who is totally objective and justifies his points...you may not agree with his review but u have to accept is as a valid POV.

everyone else seems to have a hidden agenda or a bias....so i check out several blog reviewers like the vigil idiot and filmigirl to get more info...

EDIT...

but i do think they effect the audience very much...afterall why go spend our hard earned money on stupid films??...why else would a band baaja barat have double the shares of the opening day, in the second day??? because of the good reviews and word of mouth...a critic is also a member of the audience...so if the majority of critics are liking it, then its most likely that majority of the audience would like it too...everyone ofcourse has diff likes and dislikes...but normally, a film with good reviews does well..

sorry, I was just trying to use an example! I don't think Golmaal 3 received universal critical acclaim, as I remember reading some bad reviews about it! Regardless, sorry if you did not agree with my point, as I can put another example! šŸ˜‰

You don't need to be sorry. But if your gonna start a topic, please use the right facts that's all. And in your other poll, you put We are Family under a flop, which it wasn't.

And when G3 came out, a lot of us were expecting it to be trashed, but I recall we were surprised by the numerous positive reviews it was getting.

Not really

I just pay attention to what the audience likes, because usually if most of the audience likes it, then I will like it.😊

I check reviews for movies, such as rottentomatoes, just to see how an audience ranked the movies......I couldn't give a care what critics think
