1920: Horrors of the Heart expanded the long running horror franchise associated with filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, leaning into themes of grief, possession, and psychological trauma. Directed by Krishna Bhatt and written by Mahesh Bhatt, the film featured Avika Gor in the lead alongside Rahul Dev. Marketed as a fresh chapter rather than a direct continuation, the project carried expectations due to the legacy of the 1920 brand and the involvement of the Bhatt family.

Months after the film’s completion and release, several actors and crew members involved in the production claim they are still awaiting payment for their work, with unpaid dues collectively amounting to several tens of lakhs since 2023. According to multiple individuals who worked on the film, payments were delayed repeatedly, partially cleared, or halted altogether, despite sustained efforts to follow up with the production team.

Those who shared their accounts include casting director Parag Chadha, who alleges that his agreed fee has not been settled in full. Similar concerns were raised by the parent of child actor Ketaki Kulkarni, who said compensation for the minor’s work remains pending long after the project wrapped. Additional crew members, speaking independently, described a pattern of assurances without resolution and long periods of silence from those responsible for clearing payments.

Several of the affected workers said they were initially told the outstanding amounts would be resolved after the film’s release, but timelines continued to shift without clear communication. For freelancers dependent on timely remuneration, the delays have reportedly led to financial stress and disrupted work plans.

The production team behind the film did not respond to queries seeking comment by the time this article was filed. The situation has once again drawn attention to payment practices in the industry and the vulnerability of cast and crew once a project is complete.
