Maan and Geet were on their way down when they noticed Dev and NT at the dining table. Not wanting his brother and his sister-in-law to see Geet, Maan held Geet by her elbow and quickly dragged her to the terrace. Geet looked at him in confusion. He explained to her that there was another staircase there which would directly take her to the gardens at the back of the house and she can slip into the outhouse without being noticed. Geet nodded understandingly and took the staircase back to her home.

After seeing her off, Maan walked back into the mansion, immersed in deep thought. He knew it was too much of a risk to have Dev and NT in the mansion with Geet just a stone's throw away. He came down to the dining hall and overheard Nakul inform Dev about Dadi falling ill the previous night. Dev looked concerned for a moment and turned to look at his wife who mimed that they need to go up and see her. They rushed up, with Maan close on their heels, calling out that they have to leave her alone. Paying no heed to his call, they had reached Dadima's room and Dev sat next to her. Holding her hand in his, he enquired how she was. Dadima turned her head away, not wanting to speak to him. NT tried to speak to her but Dadima raised her hand to silence her and turning to Maan she asked him to get them out of her room. Maan asked Dev and NT to leave the room as the doctor had advised Dadima to be in rest. Dev and NT reluctantly came out. Maan took Dev aside and asked NT to allow them to speak in private. When they were alone, he apologised for hitting him the previous night. Although he hated apologizing to a crook like Dev, he knew he needed to do it in order to let Dev and NT believe that all was well between them.

"Dev, I should not have raised my hand on you last night. You are right. I had no business trying to be your parent. I am and will always remain your brother. You can't be blamed for what your wife forced you to do. But then I guess, she's not a bad person, either. She just lacks maturity and judgment. Lets' forget the past and start over again. Dadima is still upset with you but give her some time. She will soon come around. After all you are still family. It would be a good idea for you to be away from the house for sometime till she cools down. I have some problems in my Agra project but I have my hands full here in Delhi. Why don't you help me out by going down there and sorting out the mess? I'll ask my manager in Agra to fax you all the details."

Dev was relieved that his relationship with Maan seemed intact even after the previous night's showdown and quickly agreed to help.

"You'll have to leave immediately. Why don't you take your wife along? After all, what better place to take your spouse than the land of the Taj Mahal? She has not been there, has she?"

Dev shook his head, a little taken aback by Maan's sudden benevolence. Maan had never liked his wife but now he seemed to be warming up to her all of a sudden, even after knowing what she had done.

Understanding his brother's skepticism, Maan hastened to assure him that he really meant what he said.

"Dev, last night I stayed awake half the night wondering what went wrong in our relationship. We were so close when we were young. How and why did we drift apart? I know that my contempt for your wife was one of the many things you hold against me. I have to give it to her though to so selflessly get her husband married to another woman in order to protect his honour. That sort of selflessness needs to be rewarded. I'll try to be as cordial to your wife as possible. Right now I think the two of you need to spend more time with each other and rebuild your marriage which must be under considerable stress because of this."

Dev seemed satisfied with his answer and was about to leave when Maan asked him for his passport. Dev looked at him quizzically.

"Since you are helping me out in my business, I want to reward you by sending you and your wife on a holiday to Switzerland when you return from Agra."

Dev's eyes widened in surprise.

"Bro, really?!" he asked.

"Yes, little one. Your brother can be generous if he wants to. Give me both your passports. I'll get the visas, tickets, hotel bookings and sightseeing tours ready by the time you get back."

Dev nodded happily and turned to leave when he was stopped again.

"Dev, there's one more thing. Naintara should not know of my holiday gift to the two of you. It would be our little surprise for her. So get me the passports without her knowledge."

Dev nodded his head again and told him that he will get their suitcases ready for the Agra trip right away. Looking at his retreating back, Maan heaved a sigh of relief. He wanted Dev and NT out of the way till his marriage with Geet for he knew they can create problems if they are around. The Swiss holiday he promised Dev was just an excuse to get their passports so that they don't leave the country. He knew he has to be patient as well as shrewd if he has to get them their due punishment.

I know I promised Maaneet romance in this update but then I realised I cant jump into it before settling the Dev-NT matter. So this update is about tying the loose ends. The next update will be Maaneet's first date.

oye oye lovely update dear...loved it ..DEV and NT doesn't deserve a place like Swiss but wat can we do we want More Maaneet so will bare it...
