I do not usually post on the main forum but just had to today given the recent atmosphere in this forum!
CVS has done a great job of keeping Geet HSP running given what was a very unfortunate and unforeseen circumstance. Could they have handled some of the new story lines & associated screenplays better...for sure! But as viewers we really need to understand that there are competing stakeholders making demands on the writing/directing team.
The producers do not launch and run shows such as these as a charity. It is a business proposition. They need to keep various stakeholders happy AND make money. For e.g. for CVS, Star One is a key customer. The advertisers are Star One's key customer...they pay to advertise during the show. If the TRPs drop, they will leave. So, they & Star One in turn, put pressure on the writing team to come up with the best options to keep the show chugging along and make it through this period without losing too much of their ratings. TRPs are generated by the viewing public in India. Those of us online making demands are a very SMALL percentage of the overall audience. So, the writers have to come up with plots that appeal to the greatest common denominator not just their online fans!
As viewers, we are also one of the stakeholders that make or break that money equation that the producers live and breathe by. So we do get a right to share our views on what they show us. But it makes all of us look immature and silly when we come on boards and forums demanding unreasonable things like the actors returning to work or future story changes because a favored couple is not romancing everyday! Why can we not let the writers show us what they have planned before jumping to conclusions? As viewers, have we become so used to the crap that passes for drama on television today that we simply cannot discern far superior quality when it is staring us in the face? Or are we so fickle that a small detour gets us disillusioned enough to quit watching? Or do we just like the misguided sense of power we feel when we get to post scoops/rumors that gets everybody riled up?
Do you want to make an impact...be sensible! Look at the larger picture of where this story started and where it is meant to go before posting! It will help the creative team get feedback they can actually consider rather than random noise that passes for opinion these days!
Coming to the heavily debated "separation storyline" and entry of a new character...we all know the writers have had to come up with new plots to keep the series running without Gurmeet. Adding a Geet - Maan separation at this point is a reasonable track addition that achieves that purpose. It gives them the flexibility to keep the episodes flowing for as long as Gurmeet needs to recover completely. To help us all gain some perspective, may I remind you of some of the very fundamental premises on which this story is based on:
1. Geet is PREGNANT with Dev's baby. If there were no baby or if the baby were not Dev's why would she be "paraye" at all? That is the most basic founding principle for this story.
2. Dev & Naintara CHEATED Geet...no ifs, ands or buts about this. Geet's character is based on her FEELING CHEATED! So even if Dev's character wants to reform, Geet's will be shown seeking punishment for her perpetrators.
3. Geet & Maan are DESTINED to be with each other. The writers established that within the first 3 weeks of this series. This means, no matter what obstacle comes their way, they will find a way to get back together. Period!
If you accept these as fact, then why would you be concerned about any new entrant or storyline? I do not want to waste any time predicting the million ways the writers could take this story because no matter which path they choose, the overriding principles STAY THE SAME!
So...sit back and enjoy the journey! If not, I would suggest you find something else to watch!
