Top 10 Actors (Male)

1.Aamir Khan
Rank 2008: 1
What He Did: 3 Idiots broke all box office records to become the biggest hit ever and anointed Aamir Khan as the most bankable star-actor. The actor, who had piled up all those muscles in 2008 for his toughie act in Ghajini, consequently shed them all to look credible as a young engineering student. He decided to take a break from acting to focus on his duties as a producer, learn cooking and Marathi among other things.
Future Projects: Alongside wife Kiran Rao's Dhobi Ghat, he is also producing two more films, Peepli Live and Delhi Belly.
Filmfare Tip: Carry on Aamir.
Filmfare Awards: 7

2.Shah Rukh Khan
Rank 2008: 2
What He Did: His home production Billu did average business at the box office. That must have been a big blow to his production house Red Chillies Entertainment. But the 2008 hit Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and the anticipation of My Name Is Khan ensured him the top heap status.
Future Projects: Super hero film Ra.One directed by Anubhav Sinha and Farhan Akhtar's much awaited Don 2.
Filmfare Tip: How about another Chak De… soon?
Filmfare Awards: 13

3.Hrithik Roshan
Rank 2008: 4
What He Did: Just a cameo in Luck By Chance. But his alleged affair with Mexican actress Barbara Mori ensured that he was in the news for all the
wrong reasons. But the industry's faith in his histrionics ensured that he remains in the top 3.
Future Projects: Guzaarish, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and the remake of Agneepath.
Filmfare Tip: After Kites failed to soar, you need Papa Roshan to direct you soon.
Filmfare Awards: 6

4.Salman Khan
Rank 2008: 6
What He Did: The whammy Wanted proved that Salman's popularity is no fluke but then Main Aurr Mrs Khanna and London Dreams sank without a trace. His initiatives with his charity outfit Being Human kept him in the news too. That apart Salman became extremely media friendly this year. He courted the press like never before, giving interviews left, right and centre.
Future Projects: Arbaaz Khan's production Dabangg, Anees Bazmee's Ready, Atul Agnihotri's Bodyguard, directed by Murugadoss and Kick produced by
Sajid Nadiadwala.
Filmfare Tip: Time you took a leaf from friend Aamir's book and reworked your career strategies.
Filmfare Awards: 1

5.Ranbir Kapoor
Rank 2008: 9
What He did: With Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year, Ranbir Kapoor proved that he is the new actor to reckon with. At the box office, the film was a no-show although it earned him good reviews. Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani set the cash registers ringing, Wake Up Sid too was declared a hit. He became the future superstar to look out for with the recent hit Rajneeti.
Future Projects: Siddharth Anand's Anjaana Anjaani, Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar and Anurag Basu's Silence.
Filmfare Tip: The movies you now choose can take you this way or that. So choose with care.
Filmfare Awards: 2

6.Akshay Kumar
Rank 2008: 3
What He Did: Chandni Chowk To China was a royal flop. Nobody saw Nagesh Kukunoor's 8 x 10 Tasveer, but Kambakkht Ishq, although it received a lot of flak did fare well. Blue fared miserably but the audience once again gave De Dana Dan a thumbs up. He also got embroiled in a controversy for indecent behaviour at a fashion show for an apparel brand that he endorses. How can we forget all the pre-release hype about Housefull that also ensured the actor was constantly talked about?
Future Projects: Vipul Shah's Action Replayy,
Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan, Nikhil Advani's Patiala House, Anees Bazmee's Thank You, Rohit Dhawan's Desi Boys and Sajid Khan's next.
Filmfare Tip: Do fewer films but with the right directors.
Filmfare Awards: 2

7.Amitabh Bachchan
Rank 2008: 5
What He Did: His genie act in Aladin was rejected but when afflicted with progeria in Paa, viewers flocked to the cinema halls in droves. The film also fetched him the Filmfare Best Actor Award. Whatever he does merits attention. So whether it was hitting the gym at 5 am, being on Twitter or blogging, he generated enough frenzy.
Future Projects: Shoojit Sircar's Johnny Mastana, Kushan Nandy's Actor loosely inspired from the superstar's life itself, Rajkumar Santoshi's next starring Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt and Prakash Jha's Aakarshan
Filmfare Tip: Who wouldn't want to see you in more challenging roles like the one in Paa?
Filmfare Awards: 13

8.Saif Ali Khan
Rank 2008: 7
What He did: While his performance was appreciated, Love Aaj Kal established Saif Ali Khan as a successful producer but the same audience rejected his pairing with lady love Kareena Kapoor in Karan Johar's Kurbaan, a love story against the backdrop of terrorism. He is super selective and prefers to now work on one film at time. But ad shoots and girlfriend Kareena keep him busy.
Future Projects: The actor's second home production Agent Vinod and Abbas-Mustan's Race 2.
Filmfare Tip: More films like Omkara and Love Aaj Kal.
Filmfare Awards: 4

9.Abhishek Bachchan
Rank 2008: 8
What He Did: The much-touted Delhi-6 was bland and performed dismally at the box office. However his act as a young MP in Paa saved the day for him. The film was declared a hit. The much anticipated and hyped Raavan ensured he remained in the list, albeit at the tapering end of the power ladder. By the by, he also gave wife Aishwarya Rai company on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.
Future Projects: Abhinay Deo's Crooked, Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana 2, Ashutosh Gowariker's Khele Hum Jee Jaan Sey and Rohan Sippy's next
Filmfare Tip: Work harder, the rest should follow.
Filmfare Awards: 3

10.Shahid Kapoor
Rank 2008: 10
What He Did: His superlative performance in Kaminey earned him wah wahs while Dil Bole Hadippa! made no such exclamatory cries in the audience's hearts. With Chance Pe Dance, Paathshala and Badmash Company also sinking like Titanic, this year his position in the list looks shaky. After Shah Rukh and John Abraham, he too joined the bandwagon of male stars endorsing fairness products.
Future Projects: Dad Pankaj Kapur's directorial debut Mausam.
Filmfare Tip: Better films, better directors.
Filmfare Awards: 1
