On 14 February 1556, Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar was crowned the third Mughal Emperor at the age of only 13, after his father Humayun was unfortunately deposed from Sher Mandal. The coronation took place in Kalanaur in the Punjab. Under the supervision of his guardian Bairam Khan, a special constructed platform, the Takht-i-Akbari, was erected.
