Here is an analysis of a master piece of Siddhant Modi. It is a monologue-cum-dialogue by Siddhant Modi in the changing room/restroom when Armaan returns and Siddhant is all shocked to see him and talks to his mirror image aired in DMG on 19th March 2010. This analysis is done after some research using some pure acting terms.

For those who haven't watched the scene or may have forgotten and would like to watch again here it is:

Monologue Analysis

This Monologue is analyzed in two separate categories:
1) Character Analysis:

Character analysis of this monologue is done using the GOTE technique of Robert Cohen

Goal - Goal is the character's principal quest. The goal of the character Dr. Siddhant Modi in this monologue is to calm down the emotional turmoil in him after seeing Dr.Armaan Mallik, his wife Riddhima Modi's ex-boyfriend, re-entering Sanjeevani.

Others - The other in a scene is usually a person or persons that makes achieving goal difficult for the character. Often the other is chief obstacle for the character. In this monologue, the other is none other than the mirror reflection of the character Siddhant Modi himself. The mirror reflection of Siddhant Modi plays the role of provoking Siddhant Modi to do something in order to prevent Armaan Mallik from taking away his wife. On the other hand, Siddhant Modi is trying to calm down the emotional turmoil in him and convince himself that eventhough Armaan Mallik is back and his wife might leave him and go back to her ex-Armaan Mallik, he still will survive and be happy seeing Riddhima happy.

Tactics- Tactics are the character's means of trying to achieve goals. The character Siddhant Modi uses the tactic of inducing whereas his mirror image uses the tactic of threat. Siddhant Modi tries to convince himself that it really matters to him if his wife Riddhima leaves him and goes back to his ex-boyfriend Armaan Mallik, but there is nothing he can do since Riddhima was never hers eventhough she was married to him. The mirror image of Siddhant Modi challenges Siddhant Modi by provoking him using threat that Armaan Mallik is back to take his wife and he really has to do something otherwise he will lose his wife forever. Siddhant Modi again uses inducing tactic and convinces himself that Riddhima inspite of being his doesn't actually belong to him because she has always loved Armaan and not him. Siddhant Modi's mirror image threatens him to be prepared to lose his wife forever and vanishes. To this, Siddhant Modi doesn't get provoked and instead keeps his calm and convinces himself that it is his wife Riddhima who has to take the decision whether she wants to live with ' her husband Siddhant Modi or her ex-boyfriend Armaan Mallik

Expectation - Expectation is usually a check on pursuit of goals. In this monologue, the goal of the character Siddhant Modi is to go to the restroom and calm down the emotional turmoil in him that has aroused seeing his wife's ex-boyfriend Armaan Mallik re-entering Sanjeevani. The character has an obstacle ' his mirror image, who instead of helping him calm down, provokes him to take measures to prevent Armaan Mallik from taking away his wife. The character Siddhant Modi is however successful in overcoming this obstacle and achieving his goal by calming himself down doing a reality check that it is really upto his wife Riddhima Modi to take this decision whether she would prefer to live with him or Armaan Mallik and he can't force her to take any decision because he loves her so much that he just wants to see her happy and that he would be happy in her happiness.

2) Performance Analysis:

The actor Karan Wahi played this character Siddhant Modi and his mirror image in this monologue with a great dignity. Every single emotion and beat of this monologue was carried out with great detail and passion. This monologue was not at all monotonous and one could see variations in expressions and tone both. Right from the minute Siddhant Modi enters the restroom till he walks out of there, every single expression was worth noting. Siddhant Modi enters the restroom with a confused state of mind and a fear in his heart that he will lose his wife because her ex is back. This fear of losing his wife was clearly seen in his facial expressions and thru the tears in his eyes. Siddhant Modi then feels the need to get out of this emotional trauma and that need is clearly depicted by Siddhant Modi splashing water on his face to realize what is happening to him. There is a part of him that doesn't want to let go of his wife because he loves her dearly and that role is played by his mirror image. His mirror image constantly reminds him of the potential threat of losing his wife because Armaan Mallik is back to get her. This potential threat is also portrayed very clearly. The mirror image does a good job of raising his eyebrows and showing his wide eyeballs to depict threat to the original Siddhant Modi that if he doesn't do something right now then he will lose his wife forever. Even at the end of the monologue, it is very clear that the character Siddhant Modi achieved his goal of calming down the emotional turmoil in him because Siddhant Modi's facial expressions of fear and anxiety changes to that of finding peace and happiness in the happiness of his wife. The changing of voice tones also added a great touch to this monologue. The tone of the mirror image was threatening and sharp while that of Siddhant Modi himself was first sad, then changed to subtle and at the end changed to calm. As a whole, this monologue was performed with great clarity and every single feeling that Siddhant Modi and his mirror image were trying to depict were very clear and obvious.
