Hello 😊

Well, i am wanting to carry out a practical quantitative investigation including either titrations or colorimetry.

What i want to investigate is the effectiveness of sunscreen or sunblock over different temperatures/storage conditions/ or over time period.

Now, i have my aim clear, but i do not know how to approach testing this. I was thinking of testing the Zinc Oxide in the sunscreen seeing as it is the most effective ingredient, however i am not quite sure how the zinc oxide determines the effectiveness. Is it the amount of zinc oxide, or the concentration or percentage? Maybe the amount of zinc in zinc oxide??!

I am not sure. I would much appreciate it if you would be able to tell me a way i can test for this via titrations or colorimetry!

Thanks in advance.

Finding the amount of zinc in zinc oxide will not help as a fixed amount of any zinc oxide will contain a given amount of zinc.
Best will be to find the weight percentage of zinc oxide in the sunscreen.
Is it possible for you to use spectrophotometry?
