  1. Day 1 - Poonam asks Jyoti & Sushma for their room
  2. She then takes her FIL's newspaper and starts reading, completely oblivious to what's going on
  3. After Jyoti prepares the hot water, Poonam lets her older, pregnant SIL take it, instead of offering to take it to the bathroom herself, despite knowing that Jyoti is pregnant
  4. When asked to cook, instead of saying so in so many words that she doesn't know how, she throws a tantrum and calls her mom
  5. When Jyoti teaches her to make halwa, she just lets it happen, and feeds her new family a disaster
  6. She makes a big issue of the sari. Granted, Sushma was less than tactful, but she was just too shrill in her reaction
  7. After she and Deepu make up, she suggests he take her shopping, not considering how bad he'd feel in spending someone else's money other than his own, and not considering how her in-laws will react on seeing her back
  8. On Holi, she humiliates her new SIL in front of her friends
  9. Coming home, when she overhears the conversation b/w Jyoti & Neelam's parents, she tells Jyoti what to do w/o even bothering to find out what others in the family think
  10. She confronts Sushma by telling her that she's out of place in her maayka
  11. After finding out that Jyoti is Deepu's step-sister, she asks him about it and is told never to consider Jyoti that. Despite that, when it flares up w/ Jyoti, she confronts her precisely on that
How likely do you think it is that any real bride would be so tone deaf so as to alienate her sasural from her in the first week itself?

Funny how Jyoti & Sudha had/have wonderful spouses, while Deepu/Sushma have/had spouses from hell! (Ok, Pankaj sucks now, but he was a great hubby when he didn't know that he was being deceived)

For the most part, Poonam is just spoiled and doesn't know what to say and when. It seems that her parents let her get her way all the time, and now, she wants that there too. She doesn't think how the family will get food or pay bills. She just wants what she wants.
So, she hasn't thought that Jyoti is keeping the house running and making it possible for her to eat and live. She hasn't thought that Jyoti has been the one to fix the issues and be a support to her. She hasn't thought that her actions towards Sushma will make her husband hate her ... and that she will develop a bad relationship with the family. If she had a concern, why not sit down in a nice way and instead of yelling at everyone, then express what she has to say ...

Another question. In last night's episode, when she called her father and mentioned what she did, her father, calmly but firmly, upbraided her and told her that what she did was wrong. And the advice he gave her was consistent w/ what Jyoti told her - that she should be on the good side of her hubby.
Now I know there are parents who spoil their kids. But the thing that strikes me in this case is that the parent here who has to date spoilt his kid to this extent instantly gives her the right advice when she complains to him and wants to come home. Does this sound likely? If a parent knows all that Mahesh-ji knows, would he have spoilt her to the extent that he did that this has now come to pass? Usually, parents spoil their kids b'cos they don't know better. But in this case, Mahesh-ji knows what Poonam ought to be doing, and yet, to date, he's pampered her to the point that she gets a shock when she enters her sasural. Normally, someone like him who's pampered her so far would have instantly taken her back the moment she said she wanted to be taken home, rather than explain things to her.
I'm glad that Mahesh-ji did what he did. But this too doesn't pass the reality smell test.

Well Poonam lacks maturity....and still considers herself as the kid who was pampered by her parents..I just hope..for being on the good side of her husband, she doesn't do anything wrong to Jyoti/Sushma! :/
As for her tantrums, well its a serial and so kind of exaggerated. But in reality too, where the space is less and people are more, such fights must be common...thats what I've heard, especially if people are not compromising!
Hopefully with the right advice and guidance, we hope shematures into a dutiful and doting daughter-in-law of the house! As it is there is all negativity around...This should be resolved soon :)

Coming to the Dad's issue..Well he surely had maturity. But rich people often tend to pamper their kids. The place where he lacked was to even show her the reality of life. Maybe he realised this now, and so is trying to make her understand!
Thats all I have to say!

Sorry for any mistakes! 😊

No mistakes, don't worry 😊

But in that case, why did dad tell her not to travel by train? Why not tell her to let Sandeep take their decision, and to simply abide by it?

Initially, I thought Poonam had decided that she doesn't want to be a financial burden on Jyoti the way Deepu doesn't want to be on her parents. But this twist was ugly, and even Mahesh-ji's decision inexplicable.

@Vrisha
I agree, and now I need to take back my words! :)
I too am disappointed to see this attitude from Poonam and her Dad. Hope someone knocks some sense into her., or better still I hope Jyoti leaves them for good!
