When KB first showed on the air it seemed to be about a 28 year old girl who was relatively overweight who could not find a husband. She had recently tried to lose some of her weight so she could have a better chance of finding a husband. Apparently she had 10 rejections in the past and is not very optimistic in finding anyone. As if things could not get worse, the one guy who does want her is the local troll and sleezebag of the neighborhood. Unable to get out of a horrible rishta with him, we start to sympathize with her plight and eagarly await for Prince Charming to come and rescue her. Then along comes Abhi in his red jeep...
Now, consider the premise, 28 year old girl, multiple rejections, overweight and seen as unattractive by others is suddenly the dream girl of a 22 year old guy who is supposed to be rich, apparently confident and charming (depending on the creatives mood) and relatively decent looking (depending on the mood of the make-up artist, hair and wardrobe team). Exactly when and how did this happen? I know he found her pretty in front of the temple and felt sympathetic towards her plight, but was that enough upon which to establish a relationship? I don't think so.
Still we as audiences have been forced to accept this premise because the creatives copped out of doing the necessary scenes to make it plausible.
But what has made the least sense to me is why did Simi no longer act as the plump 30 year old girl who has had multiple rejections in her life the minute Abhi said I love you? Never once has she ever been over the moon because Abhi likes her. She seems to take his liking of her for granted; it is as if she is doing him a favor for letting him like her!?! A girl with multiple rejections would say at least one time one of the following sentences:
1) never in a million years would I have thought a guy like you would be interested in a girl like me
2) I am so lucky to be married to you
3) I can't believe you loved me so much to risk your life for me; that you went to such an extent to save me from marrying Nukul. How can I ever thank you?
4) I still can't believe you love me this much; why?, what have I ever done for you that you would want to do so much for me?
5) Nukul never wanted me; he wanted to secure a relationship for his brother with my sister and here I was thinking that this rishta was for me. What a fool I was to think that way. You are the only who really wanted me
I think we can add to this list - don't you agree?
Seems like the creative team simply has forgotten their original character and created one who acts as if she is super attractive and can get any guy she wants, after all she has three rishtas in six months - more than she has had in 10 years so why not? After all, only a girl who thought she was good-looking and was some what arrogant would behave this way - don't you think???
