Tell me your opinions or thoughts which are more on the unpopular side when it comes to the fandom of HP.

Spoilers? I guess.

  • I didn't care when Fred died
  • I absolutely hate James Potter and Sirius Black.
  • Order of the Phoenix Movie = Best so far, even though all the hp fans complain about all the cuts.
  • Harry and Hermione were more established as a potential couple, so it's perfectly reasonable that there were/are Harmony shippers.

Thanks for this topic. I don't mean to offend anyone with my posts.
* Actually, I'm editing this again. I think both Ron and Hermione were sooo annoying at times that they balanced each other out perfectly. I like both :)
* Ginny annoys me to no end. She's got a mean streak, and when she was really mean to Hermione to defend Harry about quidditch once, I just plain disliked her.
* Even though Snape is actually good, I still don't like him.
* I think James is a bit egoistical, though I still like him.
That's all I can think of for now. I'll edit it if I think of more...

- I don't think the Dursleys treated Harry even that bad, I mean come on they let him stay in their house.
- I think Scorpius is an AWESOME name. Way better than Hugo.
- Dumbledore was really irresponsible, he was fully aware of pretty much everything Harry was doing even though it was obvious harry was putting his life in danger and he LET Harry continue on without Dumbledore giving him Harry the proper info.
- I don't like Hagrid.
- Daniel Radcliffe = very very very attractive.

Okay here goes......
  • In the 7th book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I disliked Harry more than Voldemort. It was only because of him, so many people had to lose their lives-Moody, Lupin, Tonks, Fred and George had to lose his ear! For a moment I felt as though Harry should die.
  • I don't like Ginny (like Aish) because I feel she's over dramatic at times when she's with or around Harry.
  • I feel that the characters that have lived upto everyone's expectation is Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy (not because I like Tom Felton).
  • I feel that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the best book of the saga.
  • Emma Watson, in the film is really good at times but she exaggerates her lines at times with a melodramatic tone.
  • Daniel Radcliffe acted awfully in the 6th film.

- I don't like Moody or Bill or Charlie....I don't mind Bill or Charlie. They were just there, but I actually liked Moody. He was cool.😳
- Ron annoys me to death and I think he's got a selfish side to him, which makes me dislike him. True, Ron bailed out on Harry and Hermione more than once, which is not cool in a friend. I mean, it was understandeable in the 4th book because we can understand his jealousy, but I didn't like him leaving in the 7th book.
- I still hate Snape... yes I actualy said that :P Haha, I never hated him, but I disliked him before and I dislike him now even after the 7th book. He was too bitter towards other students. I can see what made him bitter, but it didn't make it excusable to me. And it was really his own fault that Lily left him, and though others may think he made up for it by saving Harry's life, he didn't have to be so mean and bitter. Sorry, I just can't understand that.
- Bellatrix is a very cool cat.
- Hermione is too good for Ron IMO...Aww, I like Ron.😳😆 I think they both balance each other out. Hermione annoyed me at times too, like when she was always like "logic comes first". She was a bit stubborn and proud at times, and during those moments, Ron seemed nicer.
Nice post, BTW :)

It was only because of him, so many people had to lose their lives-Moody, Lupin, Tonks, Fred and George had to lose his ear! For a moment I felt as though Harry should die. Why was it Harry's fault? If you notice, Harry stressed many times how he didn't want anyone coming with him, anyone fighting for him. He never asked people to fight for him or to die for him, but everyone else told him that a war cannot be fought by one person. One person cannot win a war. People will die, and people will live. And no one is at fault for that. Actually, Harry had no right to ask people not to fight, because the war with Voldemort started way before he was born, and people fought and died then as well. No one was at fault for people dying in the 7th book except the people themselves, because they chose to fight. I don't like Ginny (like Aish) because I feel she's over dramatic at times when she's with or around Harry. Lol, I'm prob one of the only people on this forum who likes her.😳 I feel that the characters that have lived upto everyone's expectation is Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy (not because I like Tom Felton). I was kind of disappointed in Draco's char in the 7th book. They made it seem like he was going to be imp in the 7th book after the 6th ending, but he was just another little puppet of Voldemort's. I feel that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the best book of the saga. It def is one of the best, but mu fav is the 7th.😃 Emma Watson, in the film is really good at times but she exaggerates her lines at times with a melodramatic tone. Agree, sometimes she's annoying.
  • Daniel Radcliffe acted awfully in the 6th film. I wouldn't say awful, but he could have done better. Something was lacking in his acting.

It says in the 5th, 6th, and 7th books that Dumbledore told them that there's a good chance Voldemort will come after their family once her comes back to life and taking Harry in will give them protection too. Also, he pretty much told Petunia to suck it up and be a good sister for once by taking Lily's son it. The first few chapters of SS basically tell you about the mental torture the Dursleys put Harry through. It's not healthy for a kid 11 and younger to be treated like scum.

I think I understand why Dumbledore did what he did though...he kind of explained his actions in the Platform 9 3/4 chap of DH.
- I don't like Hagrid. Why?😲
- Daniel Radcliffe = very very very attractive.

hehehehe cool topic....um ok I'll try to think of mine:
-Harry/Hermione were totally a couple for me...ever since the 1st book when Harry and Ron saved her from the troll...I had already imagined them as a couple...so I was a bit pissed in the 4th one where there were obvious signs of Hermione/Ron pairing
-I was shocked and actually threw my copy of HBP to the ground when Harry was jealous of Dean...lol
-I actually love Narcissa Malfoy for some weird reason....have no idea why I just love that character
-I also agree that Scorpious is a heck of a name😛 and IMO Deathly Hallows is the best book EVER written (lol yes I'm a rabid fan girl of DH)
-I prefer James/Lily more towards Severus/Lily...because I still have a tad bit dislike towards Snape.
-I think I'm the only one in this forum who actually loves Ginny😆
-Daniel Radcliffe--sexy to the core😍
and this is a very stupid, idiotic question but can someone please explain to me what a mary-sue means?? I know its a character trait of some sort but I have no clue what it means

This is totally up my forte =)

I hate Molly Weasley because she bears uncanny resemblance to someone I know who treats others' children better than her own and walks all over her husband. I also dislike her attitude towards muggles (ref. to her criticism of them in PS). I dislike Fred, George, James and Sirius. They are bullies along with Draco etc. I really could care less about the "alpha-male-joker" excuse. Based on principle #2, I don't think James and Lily are ever that compatible. I think the death parade in DH where Sirius, James, Lily were fine with Harry dying is the dumbest idea that ever evolved from JKR. Did Lily really give up her life for her son so he could go to his death 16 years later? Narcissa is a better mother than Lily and Molly. She is shown to be more caring than Lily and Molly. Sorry, I don't account "Not after my daughter, you b*****" or suicide cheerleading as caring. Now, Narcissa risking death just to know if her son was alive? That's something in my eyes. Lucius' motives for following Voldemort are never well-defined. Lucius strikes me more as the guy who understands that royalty (purebloods) can't be superior if there aren't people of lower stature (mudbloods). DH epilogue showed Ron to be the most arrogant idiot to ever grace the surface of Earth. Obliviating muggles because he couldn't be bothered to improve his driving skills is pathetic. Harry goes through moral degeneration in the last two books. Using unforgivables, hexing teachers and students to "general applause" is really not my idea of a morally upright protagonist or a hero. Percy is probably my favourite Weasley along with Charlie and Bill (particularly because they aren't that well developed). He knows his mind and is ambitious. I hate the way JKR portrays ambition in HP series. The only way Harry gets the philosopher's stone is because he has no ambition to find it. IMO, a person without ambition is possibly the least exciting person in the world. Even for a minute, I don't believe Dumbledore to be the epitome of fairness. His blatant bias towards the Gryffindors evokes nausea. The fact that he isn't ever called on it like Snape or Umbridge irritates me to no end. I think Ron, post-PS, is an idiot. I really could care less about comic relief Ron. HBP changed my perspective of Hermione. That she would do something as immature as sending canaries, sabotaging others bothers me. Whatever happened to being fair? She doesn't seem to care much about her self-esteem either, does she? After all, sulking for a boy to notice you and acting like a lovesick puppy who has been kicked in the teeth because the object of her affection dates someone else is hardly dignified. Wonder where the spitfire from GoF went. Ginny Weasley is a Mary Sue. Short of rewriting the books, JKR won't be able to convince me otherwise -- the evidence is that compelling. I can't see how James Potter is oh-so-brave. He is reckless. Since when did bravery equate idiotic recklessness? Arthur's fascination with muggles is not endearing. If he's so fascinated, why the ruddy hell doesn't he pick up a book and start learning? His fascination shows a patronizing attitude towards muggles which is just as condescending as Lucius's beliefs that they are worthless. I hated that a mother of seven killed a woman who choses not to be a mother. That is not empowerment. I rather wish Bellatrix - despite her allegiance to LV - had killed her as that would have been more empowering from a feminist POV. I despise JKR's moral message which is basically that so long as you are one of the good guys, you can do anything the bad guys can do and not face the same consequences. It is is simplistic, and wrong. One cannot be innately good or bad -- it's our choices that define our moral character. Despite saying that, JKR proceeds to prove that choices are secondary to breeding. I hate the canon young-Lupin. Sure, he didn't bully anyone but he didn't stop his friends from unnecessarily bullying anyone. That's just as bad in my book. I'm not sure I like adult Lupin because he obviously cared more about a cause than his own son. Again, recklessness is not bravery. I don't like canon-Draco though some parts of his personality intrigue me. I think there was a lot of potential in his character that JKR left unused. JKR's 'true love' couples - RWHG, HPGW, MWAW - are unconvincing. I have no doubts that had these couples existed in real life, they'd have divorced. In canon, I enjoy that Snape is Victim turned Bully. In real life, I wouldn't have. That's the sort of behaviour that I find intolerable because it has the victim becoming what they hate. Dumbledore is the HP character that I dislike the most. I'm the last person to like Sirius but that AD discredited him hours after his death in front of someone who obviously thinks the world of him left a bitter taste in my mouth. My hatred of AD stems from the fact that JKR praises him to be the white hot tower of blinding truth yada yada yara bravery etc instead of the tactless, unfair person he is. How is that for irony. I think Draco and pre-HBP Hermione would have made a great couple.
  1. Harry is better matched with Buckbeak than he is with Ginny.

I think that's about it. =)
