Epic War movie, titled 'Sid'
Farhan Akhtar is set to make his foray into Hollywood with a bang - the young filmmaker, with his 'Rock On' mate Abhishek Kapoor will dole up an epic war movie.
The film, titled 'Sid' was earlier rumoured to be a quasi-sequel to Farhan's 'Lakshya'. Like 'Rock on', 'Sid' will be directed by Abhishek Kapoor and produced by Akhtar. But it remains to be seen if the latter would have a starring role in the film.
'Sid' is under scripting at the moment; it is being penned by 'Ramayan' scriptwriter Ashok Kumar Banker. His 'Ramayan' series is a freely imaginative retelling of the ancient Sanskrit epic poem and is still ranked No.1 on the "Internet Book List". Banker quashes all claims of 'Sid' being a sequel of any sort. "This movie is not a sequel to any movie. But, this would definitely be a war movie," he said.
So will 'Sid' be based on 'Gods of War', a war book also written by Banker? When asked about the same, the author ducks the question.
Farhan's 'Rock On' made quite an impression on Hollywood producers upon release. The cast of Rock On was featured on the cover of the September, 2008 issue of Rolling Stone. Its screenplay has also been added to the Academy Film Archive. No word yet on casting for 'Sid', but Farhan will surely approach buddies Hrithik Roshan and Shahrukh for the lead roles.
Farhan already has his plate full with Don 2 under pre production. The director, along with his close friend and producing partner Ritesh Sidhwani recently returned from an exhausting trip to Europe; the duo were scouting locations to shoot Don 2.
