As u guys can see by the title of this post, u may noe wat im trying to say. Why is it always Harry Potter vs. Twilight this and Twilight vs. Harry Potter that? I just don't get it!! How do people even compare a whole magical-adventourus series with a love-vampire-wolf series?? If its compared because both series are bestsellers...thenn i think that's wrong. Both series are amazingly great, and are seriously bestsellers. Harry Potter in its own special way is very interesting and fascinating. With all that magic, and adventure, and thrills, who would want to stop reading? Twilight in its own special way is very intriguing and captivitng... with all the rumbles and affection and heartbreak and suspension, who can leave this book on the table. My point is that... why does have to be Harry potter vs. Twilight? why can't it be Harry Potter and Twilight- two of the world's most bestselling novels and series? I for one luv Harry Potter and Twilight, two of the best series ive ever read... and most books dont always appeal to me, but these have. I dont get why its a war between them... but i wish it would stop.because i noe that there's alot of people ou there who luv both series.

What do u Twilighters have to say?

*If this is wrong or violating IF rules, MODS may CLOSE*

thank u esha...for opening up this topic !!! 🤗

it was extremely necessary...n its something that I hav been screaming my lungs out for a long long time !!!!

why the comparison ??? cant HP and twilight exist together ???

I for one..m a HUGE HP fan...and I kno that its the MOST amazing series written ever... but twilight is a completely different genre... HP is pure adventure ...whereas twlight is a love story ... how can the two EVER be compared ???

I get sooo pissed when ppl make such comparisons...

Hi Esha, nice topic by the way.😊
I honestly don't think we'll ever stop society from comparing anything, whether it be books or movies or whatnot. People will compare, it's just a quality of every human being. I mean honestly, how many of us do not compare something (big or small) every day or our life?
But the thing is...comparing is not wrong as long as people do it nicely. If insults are not used, and the atmosphere isn't turned nasty from arguments, then comparisons can be healthy. That's after all what debates are, aren't they? People take one stance and argue their point, but in debates, harsh words are not allowed to be used and others' feelings shouldn't be hurt, so as long as these two major rules are respected, I do not think comparing any book, let along twilight and Harry Potter, is wrong. It's after all a sign of a good critic to compare two or three books to each other and decide which one is better....in their opinion. After all, no one can proove something is better. Everything is based on their opinions. They just have to argue their opinions in a nice humane way, and not hurt others' feelings.
For example, I for one love Harry Potter the most, and nothing can take its place for me, but I do not hurt others if they do not like it, or if they like something better. I may argue my point in debate manner, but I won't use harsh tones or words.😊

^ exactly
thats my point
why compare if u hurt or offend something
i dont think its rite to compare hp and twi when people get offfended and so does the series
i dont mind them comparing it in a nice decnet manner
but when it comes to offeinding...thats what bothers me

^ Obviously if you compare two things they're different.
Why NOT compare? It's part of human nature .. there's nothing wrong with it. People wouldn't get offended if they truely liked something and someone's opinion that compares shouldn't bother them. If people want to compare, they'll compare.
The biggest reason why HP and Twilihgt are compared is because they were both hit to play in theatres at the same time .. which of course interested people and then they found similaritites and one thing lead to another.
Comparing won't ever stop, basically. People can't cry over this.

I don't think any type of comapring is fair. Comparing actors, or books, or people in general. Everyone and everything is special in its own way and people should appreciate that fact rather than start the 'my horse is bigger than your horse' rounds. Yeah You can compare to explain your personal choice...like why YOU liked a book better than another but there is no sense in trying to make the other book look like it's bad.

But it happens all the time. Things and people are ALWAYS compared. Take an inter-twilight comparison with the whole 'team edward' and 'team jacob' thing. Both characters have their own qualities and they're both what they are. You may like jacob's character more than edward or vice versa but I think it's wrong to compare things this way where one is meant to look better than the other.
