Actually no kids deserves to live with people like that who are so intolerant. They just pass on such negativity and the whole rotten cycle starts over again... when will people ever learn I wonder?

👏, Swapna, you are so right. Whenever people meet my son, they say, "Oh, he's so charming!" because he has that elfin, dreamy, laughing quality which a lot of autistic kids have. He may not focus on them or welcome their touch, but he takes it all in. I take his hand and help him to touch each person's face so he can overcome the sensory barrier.

So tell us, how was Rish's first day of school? Does he have the same teachers?

He had a good first day at school. His teachers are all the same incl. the aides, thank God :). A couple of his classmates moved, so they did not come back here, so he missed them and kept asking about them apparently, but all in all he had a pretty good day. He took up right where he left off according to his teacher, and just started doing all his work assigned to him on his calender again.

That's great to know, Swapna. They do love their routines, don't they? Good for Rish.

My son had a better second day, yay. He was tired in the evening, and allowed his sister to comb his hair as he lay drowsily on the couch. It was such a sweet sight.

That's so cute! It's great that your son has a sibling to interact with at home. We were really scared to have another child after Rish was diagmosed since the risk of having another child on the A.S.D. goes up twofold if you already have one diagnosed in the family. That's the one thing we miss with Rish, although some of my folks do live nearby (one set of cousins & uncle/aunt) in SB, and another in Pittsburgh. Also my husband's brothers live in the U.S. and we meet every so often, although not as much as my family. My parents live in the U.K. & we go over there about once a year during the summer for a few weeks. It makes up a little for him not having a sibling, but it's still not the same as the day to day interaction you have with your daughter and son. It's really, really good for him. :)

That just made me tear at my desk....I'm so happy for you!
