If they are people who you might meet only once a while or only once a lifetime (😆) , you might not give a damn to their opinions but when you meet them everyday and more importantly they are people who care about you how do you behave with them when they make points which seem logically absolutely invalid to you ?

Keep ignoring?

Keep shouting to make a point?

Just try to accept the fact that their intentions are right and what they are saying is wrong and don't respond ?

Tell them on their face they can't think out of their closed box?

Start crying?😆

Act pompously with a look on face as if "you won't understand"?😆

Do different things from above at different times?😆

Is there any way to get out of the situation remaining calm ?😆

It can get specially irritating if the same issue is brought up again and again !

Mine is too Remain Calm, accept there intentions and everything but still too keep making a point of it😉

the thing we need to do here is to make them think from a different perspective. they might not be always narrow-minded. They might actually be missing a perspective. Show it to them,Thanks

a very interesting topic - its not just about narrow mindedness its also about people (especially family) thinking that they know what is better for you.
This cannot be accomplished in a day but its worth it to make it happen - Here is what I did
1. Listen to everything everyone has to say - if person is a listening person then talk to them about other options. If they are not still mention other options but don't get into a detailed discussion. This is just so that people know what you think.
2. But at the end do what you think you should do for yourself
because its your life your decision - and i believe you should never be in a place where you say that you asked me to do it and see what happened. Each decision should be yours and therefore if it goes right then its yours if it goes wrong it is still yours to figure out
People will get mad in the beginning - i gave such awesome advice see that person did not listen, but then they slowly realize that thats the way you are and stop expecting that you would do everything that they say.

Thats tough indeed !😆 One doesn't even wanna talk when people around are like absolutely ignoring your POV mainly because they are ignorant themselves that a different viewpoint other than theirs is also up there !
But i guess you are right though.😃

Yeah agreed ! But sometimes there are only two options out there ! Either follow the approach you feel wrong but others feel right openly , or follow the approach which you feel wrong but others feel right secretly.
Dunno which is better. 😕

And the reason for stating is just so that I don't come across as an arrogant person. I just want them to know what i feel. After that its their call if they wish to support me or not. But first make yourself into the person who does not need too much of support and then all's well and good right?? 😉
yeah yeah
Btw-i really need to learn to put across my views in such situations !😆
well if you feel something is wrong why are you following it at all - either secretly or openly would be my question.
it can happen under family pressure, no??!!

well if you are going to something you dislike but for someone else's happiness then do it openly, whats the gain in doing it secretly? and why should you do it secretly?? don't you think???

arey no !

your qn was ->"well if you feel something is wrong why are you following it at all - either secretly or openly would be my question."

So i told you one reason as to why one would do something which he dislikes. I think you digressed there.
