Dealing with narrow mindedness.

We all have to deal with people who might be narrow minded as they can see only one side of the coin. It becomes specially hard to deal with such people if they are closely related to you. For instance they might be your parents, your uncle, aunt, your best friends, etc !

If they are people who you might meet only once a while or only once a lifetime (😆) , you might not give a damn to their opinions but when you meet them everyday and more importantly they are people who care about you how do you behave with them when they make points which seem logically absolutely invalid to you ?

Keep ignoring?

Keep shouting to make a point?

Just try to accept the fact that their intentions are right and what they are saying is wrong and don't respond ?

Tell them on their face they can't think out of their closed box?

Start crying?😆

Act pompously with a look on face as if "you won't understand"?😆

Do different things from above at different times?😆

Is there any way to get out of the situation remaining calm ?😆

It can get specially irritating if the same issue is brought up again and again !

My tactic used to be 'start crying'. 😳
Now, I either discuss or let know that Indians in India are more liberal. 🤣

If someone is innocently ignorant, even if I do not know them - I will make the effort to explain. If they are just plain jerks, I use sarcasm no matter who they are.

For example if someone asks me if 'Cows really roam the streets in India'. I answer 'Yes, but the real concern is where to park the elephants'.

If someone asks me 'you grew up and went to school in India, How do you speak English' I answer 'I sat up last night and read the dictionary. I'm awesome like that'

I once had a guy in high school ask me if I was already married off by my parents at birth, I told him I was married off to a man 40 years older than me. All throughout high school, he looked at me with the most sympathetic eyes, I still haven't told him that I lied.
