When we talk about Pakistan it is the same name in Englsh, Hindi or Urdu or any other language. Also when we talk about America it is the same, and Spain and France and Germany and Switzerland and Japan and China and any other country. But when we speak about India it is either India or Hindustan. India is the name given to our country by the Englsih during their rule and we still continue using the same name. When we were given Independence two nations were formed namely Hindustan and Pakistan. The Pakistanis' took it well and are called Pakistanis the world over, but we Indians are called Indians and not Hindustanis. Would it not be right to keep one name (Hindustan) for our country?
😊

It's Bharatvarsha if you want to go by the oldest and original name. The name Hindustan was originally used in Persia and came to us mainly with the Islamic rulers.

Thanks for the Information. Yes Bharat also can be another option. But at the time of partition it was Hindustan and Pakistan. So Hindustan becomes a better option.

If you have a problem with India/ Indian then you should have a problem with Hindustan/ Hindustani as well, cos both are foreign words. So, how does Hindustan become a better option?? 😕

It rhymes well with the Hindu religion. The Pakistanis have their country and if we analize the work Pakistan it well means pious place "pak" "sthaan".
I dont have any problem with "India". Only thing is we have two names for our country which I wanted to stress upon.

Just for info: contrary to what you say the names of these countries are not same in other languages.

America: USA, Etats Unis, ...
Spain: Espana
U.K., angleterre,..
Germany, Deutschland..
etc.

It is Bharat in Hindi and not Hindustan. But we are not the only country with different names in Anglican.

Here is an interesting discussion on the names of the country.
