| Weight is a bone of contention for many. Men in particular are said to be fussy about their wives being fit and in shape. But are all guys the same? Says actor Rajeev Paul, "If I could convince my wife Delnaz to lose weight, I would have done it in the nine years that we've been together! But the three months of dancing for Nach Baliye made her lose nearly 15 kgs of weight and several inches too." Some men make their wives so conscious about their weight that the women stop eating altogether. According to psychiatrist Dr Minhaj, "I consult nearly seven cases a month where women face strong criticism from their husbands with regard to losing weight. Such couples need counselling." But some husbands do seem to understand. Actor Rohit Roy says, "I do tell Manasi to go to the gym and work out. She's not a gym person but she does realise that it is important to maintain one's fitness." Agrees actor Manish Goel, actress Poonam Narula Goel's husband, "Poonam is quite active and has lost a lot of weight during our dancing sessions. She is enjoying her new self and wants to maintain it." And how do their wives take their comments? Rohit says, "Manasi takes it very positively as she knows it is for her own good. Says Rajeev, "I tell Delnaz not bother dieting." "Poonam knows she cannot afford to put on weight and is working towards losing it, " states Manish. |
