After Slumdog Millionaire, India will be portrayed as a slum - Preity Zinta

After Slumdog Millionaire, India will be portrayed as a slum - Preity ZintaBollywood's charming and adorable girl Preity Zinta celebrated her birthday yesterday. Since we are all aware that she has always been known to lend a helping hand to social matters this time around too she has a list of priorities through which she will step forward and make changes in the country and city. She will support a campaign called 'Light a Billion Lights' where one can sponsor electricity to a whole village in India. This electricity will be generated by using solar energy. This campaign is the India's first 24 hour Greenathon where one can sponsor electricity through solar energy.

She also feels that we as citizens of India should stop thinking about social matter and start implementing them in our own way rather than depending on others. One major problem she feels that as citizens of Mumbai we need to confront is the problem of illegal immigrants. She feels that the city is bursting to its seams and yet people keep pouring into the city. So to tackle this problem we need to get Citizen Identity cards. She feels that especially after Slumdog Millionaire Mumbai or rather India will be portrayed as a slum altogether.

She also wants to sponsor education to under privileged children. She's also very busy these days with her IPL team and her KXI Punjab Cup which is currently on in Chandigarh and Mohali. She wishes for two gifts for herself for her birthday, ''Firstly she wants to spend a little time with her close friends and also for her Kings XI Punjab team to win the IPL Cup. And especially as the IPL Cup has diamonds on them and diamonds are a girls best friend she is hoping for the best. These new talents would be given a place in the KXI Punjab side which would make the team even stronger.''

We wish Preity a warmest Happy Birthday, and wish that her dream to win the IPL comes true this Year. We also wish her that she has a great year ahead.

Oh please there is no direct quote from Preity that says anything that the headline says.

The writer says "she feels that", okay did she actually say so or you just implied that? GOD!

I am starting to get really annoyed at media and everyone giving their 2 cents about SM and people complaining about it. .. yeah it may have a lot of factual errors but Its just a movie get over it..

I am also just as annoyed with rabid defenders of the movie. Its like no one is allowed to give their thoughts on the movie that isn't 100% positive because if they do they are "jealous" or "its the real India and critics of the movie are just being an elitist".. Dude the movie ain't flawless and its a fictional account of a fairy tale story of a slum boy. It had a lot of goofs like any other movie.

I just want the Oscars to be over and done with and the whole hysteria to die down ASAP... This movie is fast moving to "the most overrated movies list"..

Oh lord. People are soooo worried that India is being portrayed in a negative light. Let's just close our eyes and pretend poverty doesn't exist in India or anywhere in the world. Anyways, the slums wasn't the central part of the movie. Obviously it was about Jamal and his journey through his childhood.

Why are all these actors acting if slums are comletely gone from India! India does have slums and it is a major issue! SM was a great flim, they should see it! I haven't seen a film like this in ages! But seriously, India isn't all glitz and glamour, poverty is a social issue and Boyle was showing that problem in his film!

Exactly!

And even if she really did say that, she's speaking of the possible interpretation. A lot of people who don't know much about India will assume that this is the REAL India. SM was a good movie but it shouldn't be used as a documentary to learn something about India because at the end of the day, it is only a movie.

And why do people dwell on that one line and ignore the rest of the article? She wants something good for the people living in Mumbai, but that's completely ignored.
