He caught some stomach flu from school and over the weekend was throwing up for all 3 days starting Friday. Then it was my daughter who was sick with same stomach issue and had diaheria for the next 3-4 days and she is OK only today.)
My hubby got couple of big bags of candies from Costco and I have bought some from other store too... (since last year we got so many kids at the neighbourhood, I want to make sure that I won't run out of candies....😉). So I had a huge collection to start with , and was giving a lot of candies to all the kids who showed up .... and while I was all happy that I almost emptied all that we bought from shops, my kids came back with their collection... oh my god.. Now I still have a lot of them with me..... which I should hide from (my 😆) eyesight... as well! 😃😳 Oh, to answer to yours.. my daughter was Gabriella from HSM2 and my little one was a Black Spiderman! 😊

Sup..
Hope ur kids are doing OK now.
Mine just go so sick over the weekend.. this happens at the start of every winter.. oh gosh.. when will they grow up and stop getting these stomach virus /ear infections / bronchitis etc., etc., with the change of each season? sigh..
Gabriella and Spiderman sound so cute. I'm so tempted to ask u for pics.. although I know it's not going to happen.. 😉 😆

Hi Jenim,
Oh no, sorry to hear that your little one got sick over the weekend. How is she now?! Hope she is doing ok now...
My kids are ok, except after the stomach flu thing, now my dd has a heavy congestion & cough for which she is on antibiotics from today. 😔 I know your feelings and I too have the same exact..... when will they ever grow and don't catch all these ...?! 😍 btw, do you take Flu shots every year? Has she got it for this year yet?

Sup,
Super photo of the Badhushas. Semma form la irukkeenga.. 👏
These look just like the ones that I had made (I have the same Corelle plate too). My first couple of batches looked like this and after that, I turned down the heat and they were a little lighter in color.
Ayyo.. aasaiyaa irukke, thiruppi indha weekend Badhusha panna poren ungaLala 😆 even though I'm not feeling too well.
You know what Sup, now our whole family is sick and my daughter couldn't even go to school on Monday and Tuesday. All of us are on antibiotics now, plus my li'l one has the added trouble of being on the Nebulizer :-( Sorry to hear about ur daughter too.. it's always one sickness followed by another until Feb.. right? Winter and early Spring ... such a testing time for people with li'l kids 😭 '
Wish our kids get better soon!
For many years I had gotten the flu shot, but since last year I decided it does not make a difference. I get terribly sick too around this time of the year.. I just didn't want to get any more flu shots and stopped just like that. My company even sponsors this.. well.. almost.
But my husband has been religiously getting the flu shot every year and will continue to do so, he says. My daughter hasn't gotten it yet and if I can remember, we decided to give it to her after she turns 10, although I don't remember at this point the reasoning behind that decision.

Supree, your badushahs look great, though they could be a little less dark in color. Just reduce the heat a little and let them cook slowly.

Jenim, I am sorry to hear about your children being sick. I still remember those nightmarish years when my kids were younger and were always taking turns to fall sick in the winter. My second one was on a nebulizer till his high school days, and things changed only after he turned twenty! I am not trying to scare you, but it does ease up, once they learn to manage their allergies. I haven't yet taken my flu shot this year, I plan to do so this week.

I am going to make carrot soup and sweet potato pudding as my contribution to the Thanksgiving dinner.

Eljay, Supree -
The Nebulizer treatment scares the hell out of me. B'cos it has become a daily thing (3 times a day) since the beginning of September! This started right after we got back from India and before that, she didn't have any such problem at all - just the usual cold and some minor spring allergies.
That we have to take her to the doctor for the prescription every month now, is something we could avoid if we can. I don't know why they never put enough of it when writing out prescriptions, even when we request it.. Oh wait. I know why, that's how they can get you to visit them..grrr...
We tried to take her off of it just for a couple of days and it was so scary to see her when she slept.
Eljay.. I can understand how hard it must've been for the parents and the child with the ongoing Nebulizer thingy. My li'l one thoroughly dislikes that she has to sit down for it for 15 mins at a time, 3 times a day, but then she really has to. There's really no other choice. I seriously think this is some kind of infection thingy (bronchial), that she must've picked up when she was in India, b'cos all these years she didn't have this particular problem.
Supree - glad that your li'l one could break away from it!
Any tips/tricks (if at all there's any) from any of you to get over this is appreciated.

Jenim, I can fully understand your little one hating that Nebulizer. My son used to hate the medication even more, the theophyllin sprinkles. We tried it in his cereal, he used to spit it up, so we used to mix in his curd rice, he hated that too, and finally we took to putting it in a spoonful of strawberry jam. Poor kid, he used to take that, and I tasted it one day and found it was absolutely bitter, like having ten pavakkais in one gulp.

Thank God those days are over. I know I am repeating myself but it does come to an end, eventually. I tried everything I could think of or read about, every home remedy, but what finally worked were the allergy shots, though it took us about 10 years of suffering to get to that point. The good thing was that after he turned about 6 or 7, we got out of the hospital visits, so I counted that as a positive change. I still blame him for all my grey hairs!

In the meantime, my only outlet was to find new recipes to try out in the kitchen! Thus my passion for cooking!

Jenim,
I truly understand how your little one must be feeling about those Nebulizer sittings! oh Gosh, that's so tough, challenge for parents to go thru too. Altogether it's painful. Been there, done that!

As far as my little one, we have had this treatment going on from almost the time he was born. He caught his first cold when he was 11 days and that developed into an ear infection when he was just 25 days old... Ouch 😭 He was given to take antibiotics and we were asked to do this nebulizer thingy (albutrol is the medicine name along with some saline spray mixed to it) to ease up his nasal congestion. 10-15 minutes several times of a day. I felt so pity for him at those times. He would shake his head, body to try to get that mask away from him, and he can't even say any words to express! Poor baby, with his fully stuffed nose he won't be able to drink the milk at his meal times, so every time I nurse him he would try a few times and give up after the stuffy nose struggle but obviously would be hungry 😭 with empty stomach and would cry all day long , couldn't sleep well. Seeing all this, I cry too. My God, even while I'm writing this, I feel so sad when thinking about those toughest days in our life. My Mom was here at that time with us and she was the one giving me all the courage & strength other than my hubby, of course! Even after those tough few months, he often catches ear infection, just like that, quite often. Then as he grew the second worst problem started, acid reflex - throwing up food, I remember those moments - Naan kashtappattu ennavellamo vilaiyattu katti baby food kuduththuttu cup, spoon-ai sink-la poi poottutu varathukkulla he would throw up everything... This reflex thingy was there with him till he reached 1 year. Thank God he came out of it now finally. (Touchwood!) Then the allergy stuff, like dad like son - he too is allergic to pollens. Oh my... what else is there?! So we gave him, Children's Clairton..., which I still, have stock! OK, as usual ithuvum romba long posting-a pochi!😳

Jenim, as far as I know, I am not sure whether there is anything that you could do to overcome this, her bronchial condition. The kids have to outgrow those allergies, as they grow older, and will have to come out it I think. Sorry Jenim - If I get to hear any more info on this I surely will pass it to you. Till then keep your fingers crossed and let's pray God! I wish her a speedy recovery - take care Jenim! 🤗 🤗

Lets start our first discussion 🤗

You probably have lots of concerns about the foods you give to your child. Is it a nutritious meal? Will your child eat it? Is there too much fat? But one thing that may not cross your mind as you're slicing and dicing in the kitchen is food safety.

Why is food safety so important? Proper food preparations are necessary to prevent your family from becoming sick from food-borne illnesses caused by bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter and Listeria (which can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and dehydration). Food safety precautions include knowing how to select foods in the grocery store, how to store them, how to cook them, and how to clean up afterward.

So what can you do to make sure your kitchen and the foods you prepare are safe?
