Now coming back to the question raised: Are women treated equally?? The answer is yes and no. At some places women are treated equally maybe even better because some people are not so narrow-minded and have discovered that women can work just as well as men can maybe even a little better
But still in the society we have some narrow-minded, old fashioned people who do not consider that women are equal to men in any way. The problem could be in their thinking or the way they have been brought up. Remember I am not talking just about the old villages and backward places. Even in places like America that's so modern and asks for equality in any way pretends to believe that women are equal but deep inside them is rooted the same old belief that they are not.
That's the only reason why women are always expected to sacrifice for their family. It's never the other way around. If boys and girls are ever compared then a boy is preferred to do a certain thing over girls. Girls are expected to be obedient and have all sorts of restrictions on them, why not boys? Why do we have different standards and rules for girls and boys?
Well I don't know about the answer but there is definitely a huge prejudice regarding women and their abilities at some places, but then again at some places they are regarded with the same esteem and respect as men are. Don't know if this prejudice will ever end. But still Happy Women Equality Day to everyone!
