Did Ranveer Singh use three vanity vans on Dhurandhar sets? Sources clarify viral claim

As Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar arrived on Netflix last week, viewers began closely examining the film, from its dialogues to hidden details in the end credits. One such online analysis sparked a fresh debate around actor privileges on big budget productions, placing Ranveer Singh at the centre of an unverified claim.

The discussion began after a Reddit user shared a screengrab of Dhurandhar’s end credits. The image listed three entries under Hamza, the character played by Ranveer Singh: Hamza van, Hamza staff van, and Hamza normal van. This led to speculation that the actor had allegedly used three vanity vans during the shoot. The claim quickly gained traction online, with users questioning production expenses and the cost of maintaining star entourages.

A source clarified to HT that the term “van” mentioned in the credits did not refer to vanity vans. Instead, it indicated regular transport vehicles used during the Thailand shooting schedule. “These were Thai vans being referred to in the end credits from Dhurandhar’s Bangkok shoot, which had a long shooting schedule. One vanity and two cars (Thai vans) were deployed for the actor, staff, luggage, etc, to travel around the locations,” the source said.

The Bangkok schedule involved extensive outdoor filming across multiple locations, requiring frequent movement of cast and crew. Transport logistics were therefore essential, particularly given the scale of the shoot and the time constraints involved.

The source also explained that Dhurandhar and its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, were filmed together and later split due to runtime issues. Ranveer’s demanding schedule included significant physical transformations. “Even now, with the teaser, you see two characters and a drastic transformation of Ranveer. He sometimes shed 15 kgs, gained 25 kgs within months or days and shot for 12–14 hours a day,” the source added.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar features Ranveer as Indian spy Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who adopts the identity of Hamza to infiltrate criminal networks. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal.
