From what I’ve read on Reddit, the movie has a sexual assault scene where the hero forcefully kisses the girl and then calls it his love language, or some 💩 like that. So the issue isn’t just Janhvi and her cleavage.

The context and content of the controversy is legitimate. Whether it’s a genuine controversy or PR created, who knows.

In south, there are multiple industries with very different filmmaking cultures, aesthetics, and approaches toward women characters.

There’s Kollywood ,Tamil cinema, which often balances commercial filmmaking with strong cultural and creative storytelling. There’s Sandalwood ,Kannada cinema, which produced films like KGF, Kantara, and Charlie, and has been gradually gaining national recognition. Then there’s Mollywood ,Malayalam cinema, which is widely respected for its writing, realism, and craftsmanship, even without relying heavily on massive-budget spectacle films.

Tollywood ,Telugu cinema, on the other hand, has long been associated more strongly with large-scale commercial entertainers, glamour-centric presentation, and the objectification of women in many mainstream films , similar to criticism often directed at Bollywood. This is not something new or recent.

Janhvi Kapoor is also not entering this space blindly for the first time. Her previous Telugu film with Jr. NTR already drew criticism for how her character and songs were presented. From the promotional shots and glimpses released from Peddi so far, the styling, camera framing, costume choices, and overall presentation again seem heavily focused on objectification rather than characterization.

As someone from a highly influential film family, she likely has more freedom than many outsiders to reject roles she finds uncomfortable after hearing the script or understanding the treatment of the character. That’s why some viewers feel it’s fair to question these choices instead of treating her only as a victim of the industry.

She knew what she was getting into. In the earlier movie with Jr NTR also, the songs were not shot well. Costumes were also not so good.

I may be wrong, but her father wanted her mom to earn money to cover his debts. May be he wants his daughter also to keep working continuously.

Genelia also acted n Telugu movies earlier but she acted n good roles. It depends on what you chose.
