I wanted to ask something. I haven’t watched KZK all of it and in order as in childhood I kept moving from one place to another. Then when I started to watch it from the beginning few years back, Prerna annoyed me or both AnuPre annoyed me with their stupidity, mahanta and sacrifice nonsense. So I stopped watching it temporarily only for hotstar app to not be available for me to watch it anymore. I lost access to the episodes
But those of you who watched the show fully - did Prerna really fall in love with bajaj? Because from what I remember, she didn’t. She came to accept him and loved him as a husband, but she wasn’t in love with him. Her heart still felt for Anurag. But some especially bhudda fans keep saying she fell in love with Buddha and fell out of love with Anurag. Is that true? I asked my sister this as she watched the whole show 2-3 years back, but she didn’t give me a clear answer
I think there’s no straightforward answer to this because Anurag was Prerna’s first love, he pretty much fathered 3 of her biological children and she had picked him on her own. He was also a part of her life from her childhood given that their dads were best friends and they pretty much grew up together. Anurag represented not just her first love but also the family beyond her own home that she had in a way as well.
Bajaj basically blackmailed her into their first marriage and while she didn’t fall in love with him she ended up befriending him at the end of the same.
The issues stemmed because Anurag couldn’t like her friendship with Bajaj and he wasn’t exactly hiding it. Prerna understood his feelings but she also felt there was no need to live with bitterness and enmity when Bajaj sought forgiveness and divorced her so she could marry Anurag later on.
Prem’s death devastated their relationship and they pretty much never recovered from it. The fact that Anurag’s own cousin was responsible for the death of their son was something that couldn’t be erased nor ignored. Anurag couldn’t break ties with his family and Prerna couldn’t accept Subroto like nothing happened despite the association she had with the family since childhood. In that period, Bajaj understood her more than Anurag and when she was found to be pregnant yet again, Anurag was gullible enough to believe she cheated on him. Prem’s death had shaken the foundation of their relationship which had survived Komolika and his marriage to her, this blame though was what completely shattered the relationship for good because Prerna couldn’t ever forgive or forget for even thinking that she would be capable of doing such a thing. That was the final nail in the coffin of their relationship which died.
Prerna saw Bajaj supporting her, raising Sneha and loving her like his own at the time. The perfunctory relationship had turned into one of genuine friendship, affection and respect between them. Because at her lowest, when she was not only a grieving mother but a wife accused of infidelity, a woman whose child was tainted before even being born, she found Bajaj as someone who stood by her regardless like a rock.
Despite it she never fell in love with him though she did began loving him like a friend.
It’s Anurag’s bitter words and insults towards her and Sneha along with the fact that he had also moved on again to another woman and married her that ended up being the reason why she proposed to Bajaj who agreed to marry her despite knowing she still loved Anurag somewhere in her heart.
I think what tilted the scales finally in his favour where Prerna finally decided to move on and consciously close that chapter of her life and make her marriage something more than just an agreement between friends was when Bajaj stood by her after Sneha’s diagnosis and was willing to accept her child born in order to save Sneha.
Anurag had rejected to accept and believe that he was the father of her child but Bajaj was willing to let her have another child and then give him/her his name as a father if it meant that the baby would save Sneha. Bajaj had been too young, busy and ambitious when his own kids born to his first wife were growing up, he barely got the time to bond with them. The only child he actually did have time for was the youngest who was born blind, Kookie iirc. Sneha was his first experience of fatherhood where he was in the moment and where he enjoyed every single milestone of hers. She was the child of his heart, the child he got to raise from day one and for her he was willing to accept another child borne from Anurag.
Prerna then decided to love him and give their marriage a chance.
The difference between the two is - Anurag was her choice that came to her as a young woman who never experienced love and whose first brush with attraction, heartbreak and with whom she experienced all the highs as well as lows, one can in a relationship. There was too much heartache between them but also there were literally 3 children they shared, of whom one was lost for good while the other was lost to them as he was kidnapped. The only person in the world who could feel and understand the pain of losing Prem, their firstborn as well as Prem, their last child, the same as her is Anurag. She has too much history there to ever truly move on from him. Even when Prem aka UD is found only Anurag understands what the joy of having him back meant as well as watching him the way he was did. When Mukti died and Prem fell apart, Anurag was the only other person who felt the same pain that Prerna did watching their son.
Anurag has been the source of a lot of pain in her life but also, he’s the only person in the world who could sometimes share her most profound agonies and heartbreaks.
Bajaj is a choice she made as a mature woman who didn’t want romance or butterflies or even any fairytale. She wanted respect, trust, love and friendship. He gave all that to her when Anurag couldn’t and didn’t. He patiently waited for her to accept him and when he did, he was willing to accept not one but two of her children as his own, no questions asked, no insults hurled, no favours being thrown in her face. He didn’t expect her to love him but hoped she would and when she did, he made sure he did all that he could to keep her happy. Did he cheat on her? Yes, he did. Did it hurt her? Absolutely…
But at the end of the day, when she had to go with one of the two men she would still pick Bajaj because Anurag had already blown up any chances of winning her back when he accused her character and wouldn’t believe her until Sneha literally had cancer. It took him his child dying to finally admit that he was wrong when Prerna begged him to have his bone marrow checked to find out if he was a match for Sneha as her father. He wouldn’t even accept her request until she pleaded with him and begged him to do it out of humanity if nothing else to save a child.
The show ends with the souls of Anurag and Prerna uniting in death because it’s implied they were soulmates but they were never meant to be together despite that because circumstances and their choices kept them apart for all their lives for good. Their slates could be wiped clean only in death perhaps with a do over in their next lives.
