Quotes

"The powerplay has been a bit challenging for us this year, but we're always looking to take wickets early so that it becomes easier for the spinners coming in to bowl in the middle overs. Sending Shubman [Gill] and Sai Sudarshan back to the pavilion in the powerplay will be a huge advantage for us."

Fast bowler Kartik Tyagi on KKR's bowling plans

"Yes, the top order has played well at times, but I think we're missing the point sometimes with this middle-order matter. Washington Sundar has played exceptional innings in the last few games. The last game he made a valuable contribution, as did Nishant Sindhu. It's a little bit of a generalisation to suggest that the middle order isn't playing its part. When they've had the opportunity, at times, yes we've missed, but at other times we've also made sure that that middle order has worked well for us."

GT's director of cricket Vikram Solanki doesn't think they have a middle-order problem

Washington Sundar found himself at a crossroads. The Impact Player rule had severely limited his game time—a frustrating setback for an all-rounder fighting to secure his place in India’s ODI and T20 squads. Seizing on this situation, the Chennai Super Kings initiated trade talks with Gujarat Titans (GT) to bring the 26-year-old back to his hometown. While the prospect of playing in Chennai was incredibly enticing, Washington ultimately decided to stay with GT, choosing to back himself and fight for his spot. READ MORE

Kolkata Knight Riders Cricket Team News

Kolkata Knight Riders come into this match after a six-wicket defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where their batting produced a competitive total but the bowlers could not defend it.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi continued his impressive season with a fluent 71 from 46 balls, timing the innings well and keeping the scoreboard moving throughout. Rinku Singh added late momentum with a quick 49 off 29 deliveries, helping Kolkata push towards a strong finish.

During the chase, Kartik Tyagi kept the side in the contest with a sharp spell of three wickets for 32 runs in four overs, while Sunil Narine picked up one breakthrough and maintained decent control in the middle phase.

Despite the defeat, Kolkata Knight Riders have won four of their last five matches and still look in strong form overall.

Gujarat Titans Cricket Team News

Gujarat Titans head into this match after a commanding 82-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, where they completely outplayed the opposition in both innings.

Sai Sudharsan continued his remarkable form with a composed 61 from 44 balls, building the innings smartly before accelerating later on. Washington Sundar added an important 50 off 33 and gave Gujarat strong momentum through the middle overs.

Defending the total, the bowling attack dominated from the start. Jason Holder delivered one of his best spells of the season with three wickets for just 20 runs, while Kagiso Rabada matched that with three wickets of his own and kept the pressure constant with pace and accuracy.

Gujarat Titans have now won their last five matches and look one of the strongest sides in the tournament at the moment.

In the current Indian Premier League 2026 season, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill lead the batting charts, while Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan remain their top wicket-taking bowlers.
