Hey guys! I hope you all are doing well. This is my take from the promos, teasers and the bts we have seen so far. Obviously, not everything will happen as I'm writing. It's just my small gesture to dive into Talrosh's world. Enjoy!
OS: MEEM SE MOHABBAT HO GAYI
“Yahan tum shaadi kar loge, aur wahan Roshi shaadi karne jaa rahi hai... Tum dono ki anaaon ki jung mein, haar hogi toh sirf iss maasoom bachhe ki.”
Talha could still hear his father’s words reverberating in his ears even after he had left Sabeeka after their shopping. His insides were churning with the thought of her marriage with someone. He had earlier experienced hearing that she’s getting married, when she had joined his firm, but back then, it didn’t mean anything to him; she marries or not wasn't his concern back then. But right now, it just didn’t feel digestible to him. He knew his adamancy to not accept a girl of her age and maturity was correct on his part, even if he had to rudely shun her away; marrying Sabeeka came complimentary.
His insides pinned at the thought of her moving on. Her impulsiveness to marry was his doing. He had hurt her this much. Her aloofness and the rudeness with which she faced him, he knew he had pressed her buttons far too much. A negative side in him wanted to be adamant over the fact that he never gave her hopes for a future. He never wanted her to change herself for him, but for her own self. But hearts don’t work on our accord. He can’t make her heart work how his mind worked. But now the damage is done, she is marrying someone in a haste, and his insides just didn’t want her to jump into anything less than the best, and he had to make sure of it. Of course, her family would have looked for the best, yet he wanted to be assured too. But how?
Two mornings later of his feeling of queasiness about Roshi's wedding, Talha had a very important meeting to handle, and he needed his baba as a must. Though he tried keeping his Sundays clear for Mohid, this meeting just couldn't be postponed, and Sabeeka’s offer to babysit Mohid felt as the most welcome thought to Talha. Probably this will create a chance for Sabeeka to win over Mohid. Afterall, even Roshi could do that in the past, Sabeeka would definitely be able to progress some bit. Talha was positive.
Sabeeka tried her best with Mohid in the first shot. She offered him new toys, tried mending his broken ones, and even tried building with him the blocks he played with Talha, but Mohid’s coldness in Talha’s absence weakened Sabeeka’s will, and by afternoon she finally gave up and let him be. She wasn’t used to taking care of demanding children. And afterall, he's a little boy and can be pushed only so much.
Mohid missed Rosh dearly, he thought, imagined and wished her to be with him right now in place of Beeka Aunty. But, alas! Despite his Da’s insistence, he just wasn’t able to accept Beeka for his Pa’s sake. Despite being a child, he somehow sensed Sabeeka to be in love with his Pa, but not with him or Da. And her superficial love didn’t reach his heart. He was walking on the pavement of the swimming pool balancing his feet one behind the other, just like his Pa taught him. He misbalanced his back foot, and splash he fell into the swimming pool. Within micro seconds of drowning did he feel death coming to him for the second time. Last time Pa was there along with him and his deceased parents. But right now, he was dying here all alone, not knowing how to swim. He was falling short of breath, struggling and flailing his arms and legs to survive, but the shock of death nearing had him pass out in seconds. Enveloped in pitch darkness, he knew no more.
“Agar Mohid ko kuch hua, toh uski zimmedari sirf aur sirf tum par hogi!” Roshi had come running to the emergency ward after a distressed call from her favourite Abid Uncle that Mohid met with an accident; and before her this scene was unfolding between Talha and Sabeeka. For a sophisticated person like Talha Ahmed, he even insulted in person and never made a public humiliation; but him shouting at Sabeeka right in the hospital corridor, eyes full of fat tears told how tormented he was when it came to Mohid’s safety. He continued –“Sabeeka, maine socha tum ek mature, responsible aur zaheen ladki ho. Ho na ho tumhari samajhdaari Mohid ko kam se kam itna maanoos kar legi ke hum sab ek chhat ke neeche reh sakte hain. Tum mera dil dukha ke bhi chali gayi tab bhi maine tumhein ye sochkar accept kar liya ki kam se kam tum mein aur mujh mein compatibility toh hai. Mohid waqt ke saath maan jaayega. Par main ye bhool gaya tha ki meri zindagi mein awwal priority par toh Mohid rehta hai. Aur agar wo hi safe nahi hai toh inn sabka bhi kya faayda.” He actioned themselves together.
“Talha mera yakeen karo, maine Mohid ko engage karne ki bohot koshish ki thi. But wo mujhe respond kar hi nahi raha tha. Main uske saath zabardasti nahin karna chahti thi. Main bas Mumma ko do minute call karne gayi, and itni si der mein hi wo gir gaya. Aur Wasif Bhai nazdeek hi they pool ke, unhone fauran hi bahar nikaal liya tha Mohid ko. I don’t know wo faint kyu ho gaya.” Sabeeka tried excusing herself from the blame.
Talha’s eyes fell on Roshi, as he felt denying Sabeeka’s excuse when he out of a desperate impulse held Roshi’s hand and pulled her in the conversation. “Tum isi kal ki aayi hui ladki se khud ko compare karti thi na, ki tumhara aur iska kya comparison. Waakayi nahi hai. Ye kal ki aayi ladki yu chutkiyon mein Mohid ko apna bana le gayi.” Talha snapped his fingers to show how quick her love was for Mohid. “Tum toh Mohid ko tab se jaanti ho jab se he was a toddler, aur phir bhi tumse wo attach nahi ho paaya. Kyuki tum mein wo capability hai hi nahi ki ek bachhe ke dil tak pohoch sako. I’m sorry Sabeeka, we won’t work if Mohid and you can’t work, I can’t risk his life ever again with you around him. Consider us over.” Talha turned around to realize that he was still holding Roshi’s fingers which she uncomfortably extracted out of his hand.
“Mohid kahan hai?” she asked with a dead pan face.
“Aao, main le chalta hoon.” he wiped his tears as he led her to the VIP suite where Mohid was resting unconscious. Sabeeka with a heavy heart looked at their retreating backs.
Mohid was adamant that Roshi stays with him, but Roshi was adamant at her boundaries set by Talha, and somehow convinced Mohid to come visit some other time. This time it broke Talha’s heart to let Roshi go, as he followed her out of the hospital room.
“Aayat!” he had softly called her out. Her heart skipped a beat hearing him call by her first name. Just her first name. Not Miss. Aayat. “Please ruk jaao na. Mohid kitna insist kar raha tha. Uski bhi care ho jaayegi.”
“Mujh jaisi immature, irresponsible ladki uska kya khayal rakhegi, wo toh aap aur sabeeka rakh sakte hain, kaafi achha rakh rahe hain.” She taunted despite her racing heart and started moving away, but stopped midway and said- “Next to next Saturday mera nikaah ho raha hai. Aap se koi matlab nahi hai, lekin Uncle Abid aur Mohid aayenge toh mujhe achha lagega.” and she walked off.
--------------------------------------------------
It was her nikaah day, and Roshi’s family was busy arranging everything in the banquet hall, waiting for the baraat to arrive. Roshi sat on the couch meant for the bride and groom, waiting for instructions any further. Her smile went ear to ear as she saw Mohid running towards her, followed by Abid Uncle, decked up in suit and tie, and along came a suited in black Talha, looking all handsome and attractive. She averted her eyes from him and concentrated on the other two favourite men of her life, greeting them and getting complimented in return. Abid Uncle excused himself with Mohid on Mahi’s insistence that Mohid should first eat some snacks before anything else.
“Achhi lag rahi ho.” Talha spoke grabbing Roshi’s attention, though she didn’t look at him much, just a ‘Thank you’ adjusting her dupatta and not looking at him. Talha stood there for a few seconds and then moved away from her, as she didn’t look in the mood to talk to him. He was the culprit after all. He himself had pushed her away from him. He can’t blame her for her aloofness. He sat on another couch in the first row where the other guests were to sit. His leg folded on the other he kept on shaking his leg in anticipation, where he was joined by his other two men.
“Talha tum bhi kuch khaa lete beta. Kab tak bhookhe rahoge?” Abid insisted.
“Nahi baba, abhi nahi. Baad mein. After all Mohid ko bhi jaldi se yahan se nahi jaana hoga. Hai na Mohid?” Talha smiled at the little boy.
“Yes. I see... Rosh marriage.” Mohid said, and then ran away and sat with Roshi talking to her.
More than an hour passed and there still was no sign of the baraat arriving. Now even Roshi and Mohid were getting bored, and engaged themselves in the game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Roshi could hear her father asking Umar to call Roshi’s in-laws to ask what is the delay about. But calls after calls when they were just about to send somebody to their house to see the issue, did Arsalan’s relative called.
“Humne maazrat ke liye call kiya hai Sulaiman sahab. Shariq Aayat se shaadi ke liye nahi aa paayega.”
“Kaun Shariq? Meri beti Aayat ki shaadi toh Arsalan se ho rahi thi.” Sulaiman was non-plussed.
“Ji... Shariq na hi second name Arsalan hai. Par officially uska naam Shariq hi hai.” the other man tried closing this conversation as soon as possible.
“Ajeeb baat hai, ladke ka naam tak ghalat hai. Aaj bata rahe hain ki uska asli naam Shariq Arsalan hai. Aur kyu nahi aayega wo meri beti se shaadi karne. Ye koi mazaak ho raha hai?” Sulaiman was now getting miffed.
Sulaiman saw Roshi stand up immediately. What he thought was the shock of the wedding not happening, little did he know that she was shocked hearing the name of the groom. Her eyes immediately rushed over Talha’s face. Where everybody else looked in complete shock and dismay over the cancelled wedding, he sat absolutely calm, his feet were not shaking any more, as if he knew this storm coming, and was waiting for it to hit. And when it has hit everyone, he sat calmly waiting for the whirlwind to get over. His eyes briefly met hers and somehow, she could read that he was involved in this baraat not coming. She sat down calmly that, that fraud Shaariq’s baraat is not coming. But why and how was what she wanted to hear. Her questions were asked by her mother.
“Sulaiman, ye aap kya keh rahe hain. Kya kaha unn logon ne?”
“Sadaf, mujhe lagta hai ki Allah ne humari Roshi ko bacha liya. Aapko pata hai, uska asli naam Shariq tha, aur police usko pakad ke le gayi. Uske khilaaf badkirdaari ke saboot mile they. Ladkiyon ko akele mein le jaa ke ghalat kism ki videos banata tha. Uske ghar walo ne usko riha karane ki bohot koshish ki, lekin uske khilaaf non-bailable offense laga hai. Isliye na wo aaya aur na uske ghar wale mooh dikha rahe hain.” Sulaiman narrated the unbelievable tale to his family. They had shock and relief both coming one after the other, all thanking Allah for saving their precious daughter from this horrid match.
“Roshi beta, khas kam jahaan paak. Good riddance. Bilkul afsos manane ki zaroorat nahi hai aapko. Aap hum pe bojh nahi hain, aur na hum iss baat se fikrmand ki humari bachhi ki baraat nahi aayi. Hum mein se koi iss baat ka malaal leke nahi baithega. Aap befikr uth jaaiye.” Roshi’s dadajaan encouraged her.
Before Roshi could even gather her lehenga to stand up, Abid Uncle was next to Sulaiman and his father and spoke politely- “Mujhe bohot khushi hai ki aap sabne apni beti ki shaadi ko apni anaa ka masla nahi banaya. Uski rukhsati hone nahi hone se aap logon ne uspe koi bojh nahi daala, ye waakyi kaabil-e-misaal hai. Lekin agar aap logon ko aitraaz na ho toh hum Roshi ko apni bahu banake aaj rukhsati lena chahte hain.” he looked towards a calm looking Talha once and then back at Roshi’s family.
“Kya baat kar rahe hain Abid sahab, itne baakhoob bete se kaun apni beti nahi ki shaadi nahi kaarwaana chaahega, Lekin Roshi ki marzi sabse upar hai. Jo humein kuch waqt pehle tak toh pata thi. Lekin hum chaahenge ki wo khud ispe haami bhare.” Roshi’s dadajaan said, and all of them looked at her.
“Mujhe unse akele mein baat karni hai do minute. Please humein thodi der ke liye privacy de dein.” Roshi said with a dead pan face. All the family members moved away and sat at the guest chairs, while Talha moved forward, and sat on a chain in front of Roshi. She immediately fired the question- “Ye sab aapne kiya?”
“Haan. Par isliye nahi ke main tumhari shaadi tudwana chahta tha. I just wanted to make sure ki tum safe hands mein ho ki nahi. Phir jab pata chala ki ladka Shariq hai, toh mujhse raha nahi gaya. I was sure ki main ye hone nahi dunga. Baba ke ek dost IG hain, unki help se ek undercover ladke ko bheja, toh pata chala ki usne tumhari cctv videos edit karke rakhi hui hain. I’m sure wo use karta tumko harass karne mein. Toh on complete confidentiality for my sake, tumhari videos uske aur uske doston ke sab systems se delete kar di gayi hain, but wahan aur bhi ladkiyon ke videos mile, and that became the evidence.” Talha truthfully told.
“Aur wo video phir kabhi recover ho gayi toh?” she was worried.
“Tumko lagta hai ki main aisa hone dunga?” Talha looked sharply at her.
“Toh aap meri izzat bachaane ke liye mujhse nikaah karne ko raazi huye hain, ya Sabeeka meri achhi substitute nahi hai isliye kar rahe hain.” she spoke with anger surfacing her face.
“Dono wajah se nahi. Iss baat ko realise karke kar raha hoon, ki tum koi option nahi ho. You are the choice that I should have made way before, lekin khud ko rokta raha kyuki main tumhari zindagi barbaad nahi karna chahta tha. Lekin ab mujhe yakeen hai, ki mujhe chodh ke tum bhi koi khaasa apni zindagi aabaad nahi kar rahi ho. Toh chalo milke ek dusre ko aabaad karte hain.” he smiled at her.
“Main thodi-thodi convince ho rahi hoon, lekin naaraaz main abhi bhi hoon aapse. Mera itna bura dil todne ke liye.” She had a small smile coming on her face, but she controlled it.
“Mujhse shaadi kar lo. Mere saath ghar chalo. We’ll talk everything in detail, I’m sure tum mutmaeen hogi uske baad. Aur rahi tumhari naaraazgi, toh usko door karna mera farz hai. I promise main maafi ka katora leke tumhare saamne roz haazir rahunga. Jab tumhein lage ki mujhe enough saza mil gayi hai tab tum mujhe maaf kar dena.” he smiled solemnly.
And finally, she giggled. She nodded her family for her yes, and the nikaah was arranged. They said “Qubool Hai” not just to each other but also to the acceptance of her liveliness, and his maturity. Her clumsiness and his emotional baggage. They accepted each other as a whole package.
She could definitely throw her anger later at night, and him making up for everything. She could go to office with him, and he could accompany Mohid and her to their daily park visits. After all they knew Meem se Mohabbat!
