While Don 3 remains in headlines, Farhan Akhtar may have found his next leading man in Salman Khan

Salman Khan appears to be exploring a diverse slate of projects as fresh reports suggest he may be teaming up with filmmaker Farhan Akhtar for a large scale period drama. While no official announcement has been made, industry buzz indicates that discussions between the actor and director are currently underway.

At present, Salman has two confirmed films in his lineup. One is Maatrubhumi, which has already been announced and is awaiting its release date. The other is director Vamshi Paidipally's upcoming action drama, which also stars Nayanthara and is expected to arrive in cinemas on Eid 2027.

In recent months, reports have also linked Salman to a project with filmmaker duo Raj & DK. Adding to the speculation, a report by Pinkvilla has now claimed that the actor is considering another ambitious venture, this time with Farhan Akhtar.

According to a source quoted by the publication, “Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar have been meeting regularly over the last month and discussing a potential collaboration. Salman has loved what he has heard so far and has shown keen interest in the project. The talks are still at an early stage and have not yet reached the paperwork phase, but both sides are excited about the possibility of coming together for the first time.”

The source further stated that the proposed project is envisioned as a period action drama with a story large enough to be developed as a two part film. However, neither Salman nor Farhan has publicly commented on the reported collaboration so far.

If the project materialises, it would mark a new genre for Salman, who has rarely explored period dramas during his long career in Hindi cinema. The reported film would also bring together two prominent names from the industry for the first time.

Meanwhile, Salman recently drew attention during the 25 years celebration of Aamir Khan Productions. His bald look at the event sparked discussion among fans, with many speculating whether it is connected to one of his upcoming films.

Farhan Akhtar, on the other hand, has remained in the spotlight due to ongoing discussions around Don 3. The project has generated headlines in recent weeks following reports surrounding Ranveer Singh's exit from the film.
