I think it's his actual degree. He had attended for 4 yrs but skipped classes for auditions. Think they gave the degree now as he didn't write his exams and joined movies. Some concession they may have given.

I’m sure it’s just an honorary degree. Aren’t there time limits for course credits before they’re no longer counted and you have to take them over?

Regardless, congrats to him I guess. Of all the overzealous and aggressive PR things he does this one is actually nice and not harmful to others.
