Is Aishwarya Rai’s filmography a disgrace to actresses of her time?

When I look at Rani, Preity, even Kareena they all did regular quality movies and didn’t have a problem connecting to their characters. Aishwarya Rai is another story. She is like the odd one out and had a disgraceful career. With the exception of HDDCS, Devdas, Guru, Jodhaa Akbar, and a few other movies she was inconsistent and terrible in most roles. Why is she so below her peers?

Could never stand her acting

Aishwarya Rai was a great actress with excellent filmography.

A career spanning over 25 years with some of the most iconic female roles that will be remembered by many generations.

She may not have too many blockbusters but she has several great and good films in her career.

Aishwarya Rai will inspire generation of actresses to come.

Her first film Iruvar is a masterpiece political drama where she played a role based on Jayalalitha, the powerful politician of Tamilnadu.

Her 2nd film Jeans was a blockbuster hit and was the fist high budget very technical film which was send to Oscar due to its visual effects.

Her 3rd film Aa Ab Laut Chalen was average film but it was last Raj Kapoor banner film. She remains the last heroine of RK films. The songs were chartbusters.

Her 4th film was her turning point in career. The classic hit Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. I think almost each and every actress dream is to have a role what Aishwarya played in HDDCS. This film will always remain as a true iconic romantic masterpiece film.

Her fifth film Taal was a musical hit and a blockbuster abroad. This film was first Indian film which was featured in UK Variety list as a top grossing film outside India. Even in India it was very successful esp. for its songs and dance.

Her sixth film Kandukondain Kandukondain was a blockbuster Tamil film which is considered the most iconic family drama in Tamil recent history.

Her seventh film Josh was a classic coming of age film. The film was average in India and became Hit overseas.

Her eighth film Hamara Dil Aapke Pass Hain was a clean hit with great music. Shukriya Shukriya is still very popular song.

Her 9th film Yash Chopra's Mohabbatein was blockbuster and despite being a special appearance she got maximum attention due to that iconic song Humko Humise Chura Lo. She also received a filmfare nomination only for a special apperance. A rare event in film industry where only 10 minute roles got a supporting actress nomination.

Her most remarkable role was Paro, the role is the best ever romantic role written for any actress in recent past. Its just too iconic to be compared. Devdas film was just a classic example how an actress becomes an overnight international star just for one film. She got her 2nd best actress award for this iconic film.

Like Nandini of HDDCS, Paro of Devdas was almost a benchmark for every young actress.

If all these roles weren't enough she surprised everyone with Kajra Re, the Choli Ke Peche song to 2000's. This single blockbuster song made the film a hit. Otherwise nobody cared for that Bunty Aur Bubly film.

Her Mani Ratnam's Guru was a superhit film where she was praised to high for her performance as Sujata.

& Yash Chopra's blockbuster hit Dhoom 2 was another milestone for her. What a transformation as the golden girl Sunehri.

Rituporno Ghosh's Chokher Bali, Raincoat both movies received national best film award in two consecutive years.

Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar was Hit or semi hit in India but blockbuster in overseas. Its another classic film of her career. And her role Jodhaa Bai is considered another role close to her films with Bhansali.

Guzaarish is considered a cult classic now. Even if it was flop but people consider it a masterpiece.

Aishwarya was the first actress ever in Rajnikanth film where she was promoted more than Rajnikanth during the promotion of the film Robot / Enthiran. The film is considered best sci fi film of South India ever.

Her film Raavan was not good but her film Raavanan, the Tamil original film was very popular and a success in South industry.

Her recent all time blockbuster hits Ponniyin Selvan film series made her a true living legend who will be remembered as the only actress after Sridevi who is equally popular in both Bollywood and South Film Industry.

Calling Aishwarya's filmography terrible is just absurd. She may not have the best filmography but far far better than all her contemporaries.

She infact was the first choice for almost 90% of the big films but due to her problem with all the Khans she couldn't become more bigger superstar.

Still she is bigger star than all her contemporaries.

The name Aishwarya Rai will be taken after Madhubala as India's most beautiful actress ever. Even Madhubala was not as successful as an actress like what Aishwarya did in her career.
