That happens all the time. What was the funniest was when an actress was on stage (I think it was Katrina) and they still showed her reaction in the audience.
These awards have no credibility. Furthermore I also think everyone within the industry realizes that as well. Everyone just uses it as a publicity gimmick, or perhaps a paycheck for performance, and the organizers and the TV channels as a ratings ploy for revenue. And the money they all make from it must be a lot because over the years there’s been no attempt to correct anything. Jokes about the editing has been going on for years and yet it still happens. Criticism and pushback against giving awards based on attendance has been happening for years too and yet it hasn’t phased neither the stars nor the organizers.
If we are all being honest it is always nice to see our favorites, or those we like, be given an award even when we know all the facts I mentioned above. I think it’s just a fan’s excitement of seeing our favorite getting picked even in a messed up system 🤷🏽♀️.
Having said all of that, the criticism and observations about Filmfare this year was kind of shocking and even embarrassing for them, mainly thanks to Alia’s win. Whether the organizers or specific stars will make different decisions next year remains to be seen. Alia hasn’t won the last two awards and she was still there at Zee awards. So her PR is obviously reacting and working on fixing things.
