Personally, I would find it highly unfair (I've no idea about the importance of this Mirchi Award for her). If they don't want to give her supporting actress award, they still could make an award about the most impactful cameo appearance in a 2023 movie. (they weren't shy in the past to create new awards).

Whatever Nayanthara got as screen time, she was a very good match to SRK...a lovestory between them wasn't really a subject of the movie.

But buying awards and such allegations are just baseless spiteful comments with no basis.

What didn't you like, Ricky?

As for the bold: It is not what happened. SRK would have liked to do this movie with Hirani but - as Hirani tells himself (in an interview) and I told more than once in the forum - SRK had hurted his spine so badly on the sets of Shakti that he had to undergo a quite dangerous operation which could have left him partially paralysed and even when everything would go fine with operation and rehab, he had to finish KHNH and MHN before starting a new movie. So he told Hirani, he would only be able to do the movie when Hirani could wait 12 to 18 months at least. But the script had been ready, Hirani didn't want to wait and he looked for another producer and actor (if I'm not mistaken SRK suggested Sanjay).

The story you've shared about Dunki is what I was seeing online with Animal. I wonder if any film this year was a genuine hit then. With Animal, the trend was that it was always seats on the left of the theater that were booked, always the same pattern.

Karan has been accused rightly and I can understand Ajay saying it. In 2016, when Ajay's Shivaay and Karan's ADHM were to clash in October, Karan paid KRK to write negative things about Shivaay and praise his movie (he may have paid also other people but Kamal R Khan was the one who admitted that he got paid by Karan to do so. Karan accused KRK of lying and slander and that it had been just the contrary.)

That not only made other accusations believable and casted an additional bad light on Karan and his ethic but it also lead to a rift with Kajol that - imo - didn't heal completely.

As for the seats...they can have been bought by whoever, even by the Salaar people just to make SRK look like the scammer they were themselves... (to me, it would make more sense with all the shady things done by these Hombale people and Thadani).

Jack, spilling coffee out of laughter won't change that you have no proof for SRK having effectively bought an award and repeating it is nothing but slander.

Yes I don't really like RK or RS, but I do feel both of them did a pretty good job in Animal and Rocky rani respectively.

But still strictly on performance basis also it should be SRK for Jawan only, I think amid all the elevation, action scenes & his towering screen presence ppl ended up neglecting the fact that he played a rather complex double role and made it look so effortless. There was ample of emotional & drama quotient which would have fallen flat with a lesser actor.

But again Filmfare hi toh hai, kya hi farak padta hai smiley36besides Suhana ke baapuji ke paas itne hain ki usko bhi nhi pata smiley36

Wow, this is interesting. But what's the point of doing this? I can only guess its either to create an illusion that people are loving the movie and getting people to watch it out of FOMO, or an ego thing to be up there with numbers in record books.

In case of the second, I can understand Dharma, Red Chillies, YRF having that kind of money to burn but do the makers of Animal have that? I read Ranbir cut down his fees and went for profit sharing because the movie ran into financial trouble towards the end of production. It's just a blackhole this place and driven to the ground by these greedy big production houses and music labels.

So, is Gadar 2 the only true success story?

The distributor for Animal in Hindi belt is AA Films (Anil Thadani)...he is also the distributor of Salaar, the movie whose release date got changed from end of September to Christmas.

AA Films has already distributed some of SRK/RCE movies (last one had been Badla in 2019).

When the auction for Jawan took place, SRK/RCE didn't give the movie to Thadani but to Pen Studios (who made a lot of - honest - money). Pen Studios also got the distribution for Dunki in the Hindi belt.

So, there is a lot of animosity, especially when considering that in 2018, it was also Hombale Films and AA Films pitted against Zero. (Hombale Films, btw. is a hjigh BJP member lead production house, but actually a front for something else)

You can bet that Animal makers/distributor would play anything they want and the same with Salaar and I'm sure they would not shy away to harm SRK's reputation...just because they can do it (Thadani is the most powerful distributor in the Hindi filmindustry - apart from YRF)

You also mention T-Series...and you're right...T-Series - Bushan Kumar - is also responsible for the negative reputation the commercial Hindi filmindustry got.

Edit: As for Gadar 2, I refrain from commenting except stating that Sunny is a prominent BJP member ...the rest is just everybody's own thinking...right? But it had been with Gadar 2 that the so-called 'organic' collection has been invented...

Yes I mis-wrote. He couldn't do it and yes he himself suggested Sanjay - that's what I also remember reading. But he also ended up not doing Aamir's role in 3 Idiots as well.

I didn't like the screenplay. I felt it was a drag and it seemed the sad incidents in the film were forced to evoke empathy rather than those flowing naturally. eg The killings at Iran border, Taapsee's brother's death, Taapsee's death. The only thing I liked about the movie was Vicky Kaushal. And I cant digest SRK as a young romantic hero anymore. From the Baazigar, Darr, DDLJ days, it was the intensity in his eyes, his acting that made him very natural and thats why I became a huge fan. Now it looks all artificial with VFX on him and dance moves where he clearly looks aged in movement. I think Jab Harry.., Zero..and now Dunki for me proves he should stick to Action movies given the success of Pathaan and Jawan.

Sorry man, I don't get into political discussions online. For everything you mentioned, there is always an equal and opposite story from the other side. I've read about Ajay Bijli (CEO of PVR Inox) being freinds with SRK and hence not giving shows to Salaar etc etc so I don't think about those things. This was personal experience that my parents had so I mentioned. Maybe people on both sides do these things when that kind of money is involved who knows.

Thanks for replying smiley1 I read what you wrote about Dunki and what you didn't like and can understand this reaction. As I wrote, the "flowing naturally" came only with the second viewing for me, when I already had all the informations about the story. I also can relate to people not liking the SRK made young. This is not the same to me because it's not SRK but Hardy...I watch movies with the characters in mind...it hasn't been Tapsee, SRK, Vicky, Boman etc only after the movie and then, I knew, not all would accept the age-graph of the movie. Interestingly, I found Sukhi's behaviour the least logical and the most emotionally based (albeit greatly performed)...his suicide was so spontaneous that he already had it in mind as a solution to his problem...and it served as the trigger for the more practical thinking Hardy to give in to emotions (among others his rebellious mind against the injustice of the system - which is very SRK and which gets explored in the movie furthermore) - I repeat, all this made the 2nd view necessary to really enjoy the movie as I was concentrated on the subtitles more than on the flow the first time.

Respective 3 Idiots, I already wrote why SRK declined...he would have made the movie but not with Vinod Chopra as producer (latter had accused SRK of foul play when Paheli got sent to the Oscars and not his movie Parineeta). Hirani felt indebted to Vinod and did not want to leave that production house. So 3 Idiots happened with Aamir. Later I got to know that SRK mentioned - after having watched the movie - that he would have wished that Baghat's book got more respected.

If I'm not mistaken, it was only at the time of Sanju (which Hirani already coproduced more than he did with PK) that he contacted SRK again (he felt now able to co-produce something with SRK). Then came in Jan 2019 the #metoo allegations by the assistant (not proved in any way) which got supported by the Chopras leading to the separation ( imo, there also played a role that Vinod wanted to do the adaptation of Anurag Pathak's book himself - originally it should have been Hirani's next directorial venture)
