I don’t think anyone has ever made a movie about Ted Bundy and glorified Ted Bundy in the process or shown him as the hero of the story. That’s the part everyone is concerned about. How has Vanga treated this story? Will Ranbir’s character be shown as the psychopathic criminal that he is or will his behavior and action be excused and glorified? The trailer already shows how he’s always craved his father’s love and never got it. Is that part of the story told just as a backdrop to show what makes the character tick? Or as a way to make the audience sympathize with him and “understand” where he’s coming from?
Issue here is given Vanga’s words and how doubled down after receiving criticism for Kabir Singh a lot of people don’t have any faith in him that he’s handled this story and character the right way.
Last point. JK Rawling is controversial for her bigoted stance on transgenders. And that started after Harry Potter became the worldwide phenomenon that it is now. Severely problematic yes but not the same as saying being in love means freedom to hit your partner.
See, Directors sometimes are obsessed with negative characters. Bhansali was obsessed with Khilji. He had two songs celebrating Khiliji's madness
There is a reason Why this movie is "A" rated. For adults only. I get teenagers should not watch this movie. They have an impressionable mind. They can be influenced by this
But what excuse do you have as adults to relate to this psychopath character?
No matter the past, the monologue, or even the songs, Ranbir's character is a psychopath. A dark character. He should not be idealized
A crime is a crime. Period.
After a point, adults really don't have anything but their own mentality to blame if they actually relate to such demented characters.
Let me make it clear that I am not supporting/justifying/glorifying violence against another human being
All I am saying is that as adults no matter How Mr. Vanga presents we should have it in us to be able to differentiate
Vanga is a problematic person. I don't like him either.
But a crime committed with a hero's BGM is still a crime. An adult will be able to differentiate
It should be common sense at this age don't you think?
