I live by my siggy quote. Despair doesn't take you anywhere. It doesn't help you, only you can help yourself.

Wasnt really referring you to someone treating u unkindly or hurting you deliberately but i got what you are saying 👍🌻thiz so impertinent to the typical milieu of this thread ..I will refrain in future 🌞

Depends on a few things.

  1. The person who is deprived
  2. How long was the deprivation
  3. Was the deprivation in childhood or in adulthood

Generally speaking though, yes, it does and it should. We want to live by the addage, "an eye for an eye....".

On another note, I think this world doesn't get enough sleep and most of our issues, both mental and physical, stem from lack of sufficient sleep.

In honour of World Music Day, I'll share this famous Marathi song about the ubiquity and universal experience of music.

Song: Māzhe Jīvana Gāṇe

Lyrics: Mangesh Padgaonkar

Composer: Purushottam Laxman Deshpande

Singer: Jitendra Abhisheki

I haven't been able to find a rendition that includes the third verse, but this performance stands out for its classical style.

Lyrics

माझे जीवन गाणे

Māzhe jīvana gāṇe

My life is to sing

व्यथा असो, आनन्द असू दे

प्रकाश किंवा तिमिर असू दे

वाट दिसो, अथवा न दिसू दे

गात पुढे मज जाणे

Vyathā aso, ānanda asū de

Prakāśa kiṃvā timira asū de

Vāṭa diso, athavā na disū de

Gāta puḍhe maza zāṇe

Distress may be, let it be delight

Light or darkness let it be

Path seen, or let it not be seen

Singing, ahead I have to go

कधी ऐकतो गीत झऱ्यातून

वंशवनाच्या कधी मनातून

कधी वाऱ्यातून, कधी ताऱ्यांतून

झुळझुळतात तराणे

Kadhī aikato gīta zharyātūna

Vaṃśavanācyā kadhī manātūna

Kadhī vāryātūna, kadhī tāryāṃtūna

Zhuḷazhuḷatāta tarāṇe

Sometimes I hear song in a spring

From a bamboo grove's thoughts sometimes

Sometimes from wind, sometimes from stars

Trickle wordless scores of notes

तो लीलाघन सत्य चिरंतन

फुलापरी उमले गीतातून

स्वरास्वरातून आनन्दाचे

नित्य नवे नजराणे

To līlāghana satya ciraṃtana

Phulāparī umale gītātūna

Svarāsvarātūna ānandāçe

Nitya nave nazarāṇe

That amusement-filled, true, eternal One

Like a flower blooms from song

From note after note, perpetually

New offerings of delight!

गा विहगांनो माझ्यासंगे

सूरांवरी हा जीव तरङ्गे

तुमच्यापरी माझ्याही सूरांतून

उसळे प्रेम दीवाणे

Gā vihagāṃno mājhyāsaṃge

Sūrāṃvarī hā jīva taraṅge

Tumacyāparī mājhyāhī sūrāṃtūna

Usaḷe prema dīvāṇe

Sing, sky-bound birds, along with me!

On tunes this life-spirit floats

Like yours, even from my tunes

Spills out a crazy love

kishori amonkar, kishori amonkar films, kishori amonkar bollywood, kishori amonkar film songs, kishori amonkar bollywood songs, kishori amonkar singer, kishori amonkar death, kishori amonkar news, entertainment updates

All great filmmakers place a high value on music and provide us with magnificent imagery.

When V Santharam invited Kishori Amonker to sing in his film 'Geet Gaya Patharon Ne,' she stipulated that "I will compose my songs with my favorite Ragas, and no one should direct music in my songs except me!" That is the power of talent and musical prowess.

In a glowing career spanning decades, Kishori Amonkar has remained one of the foremost singers in the Hindustani classical tradition. Known for speaking her mind and having a strong opinion against Bollywood, she regarded the current film music as ‘rhythmic noise.’ Amongst recent songs, I only liked the Qawwali Khwaja Mere Khwaja (Jodha Akbar). It’s soul-stirring,” she said.

“You know I defied my Mai and guru (Moghubai Kurdikar) to sing for Geet Gaya Patharon Ne. She was furious and told me that if I wanted to sing for films I shouldn’t ever touch her two tanpuras. I still remember how her words struck me.

A staunch critic of popular film music, the one song that surprisingly caught Kishori Amonkar’s attention was “Main Tenu Samjhawan.”

“I don't only listen to, but also like the good ones. A recent Punjabi song ‘Main tenu samjhawan ki…’ comes to mind. Whoever the singer is, he has sung it really well. ‘Ga re sa’ and ‘dha pa ma’ are the most difficult notes of the song, but he has sung them with perfect accuracy. I had nothing to do with the words or the language of the song, but the rage and the composition attracted me,” Kishori Amonkar said.

For her fans and enthusiasts, it was all about worshiping music. She took her singing seriously, and even wanted her patrons to do that. “At a concert in Kashmir, a top industrialist’s wife ordered paan while I was singing. I stopped my concert and left the stage behind, and asked her if she thought I was singing at a kotha,” Amonkar had said.

Here is a rare gem of Kishori Amonkar -- This song is based on Raaga Durga, which is really a heart touching Raaga.

The singer communicates with the entire world through the language of melody, metaphor, and audible tune. As a result, singers talk in the language of dreams, with the hope that life will become more symphonic for the listeners.smiley10

Raga Bhopali: Jyoti kalash chhalke by Lata Mangeshkar from Bhabhi Ki Chudyan (1961),

lyrics Narendra Sharma,

music Sudhir Phadke

Bhopali is a subset of my favorite raga Yaman. It is essentially Yaman without the fourth and seventh notes. Doing so takes away some of the gravity of Yaman and retains a feeling of pure joy. Another raga from the same family – Shudh Kalyan – omits these two notes in ascending movements, and includes them in descending ones, and the mood falls somewhere between Bhopali and Yaman. Pandit Omkar Nath Thakur, in fact, didn’t like the name Shudh Kalyan and insisted on calling it Bhoop Kalyan. For me, the iconic composition in Bhopali is the famous Jyoti kalash chhalke composed by Sudhir Phadke from Bhabhi ki Chudiyan:

Sorry for intruding into your convo, but if you want an honest answer, nope, not at all. To put it very simply: It makes one build a subconscious wall with barbed wires on it, and hope noone can ever cross it coz otherwise they will see them as they are, a fragile human caught up in the mess called life, and not a robot like the person wishes to project themselves to be. It makes one believe they are the cause of misery in the world and in the lives of others, and so they don't deserve anything good. They will deliberately push away love and affection from others, because all they really are thinking about is that they are protecting themselves, whether it even makes sense to others or not. It makes one constantly keep their guard up and question the motives of others, because they never learned how to recognise what is a red flag versus a green flag. Not everyone has to deal with it, and noone should have to deal with it. And if you know someone like that, please get them the right medical help/counselling asap, because even your kindness will not suffice, incase they decide to do something as extreme as take their own life.

those who are bewrayed or cozened by Vicious snollygosters sometimes build an abysmal wall around themselves - mauerbauertraurigkeik for the sake of mot juste !

They need proper councelling as you said..

Thanks for your inputs🖱️

Rajshree danced like nimble dew drops with elegant rhythmic dancing. This is ethereal, thanks to Kishori Amonkar and Ramlal. What to say and how to express it in words?!

The beauty of this song is beyond description!!! One of my all-time favourite songs...everything about it is just so unique!! Rajshri's dance, Ramlal's composition!! everything...and what can I say about Kishori's voice? This is nearly cosmic in its enigmatic nature. This song never fails to make me emotional.

V. Shantaram was first and foremost an artist, and subsequently a filmmaker. He was an admirer of brilliant and flamboyant colours, which he paired with the most elegant dance and photography. He was a filmmaker who brought the world's enormous cultural diversity to the screen.

"Geet Gaya Pattharrone" is a forgotten gem in Indian cinema. The picture starred his daughter Rajshree, whose cinema career was cut short by marriage, and she went abroad after a few more films. "Around The World" is one of them, starring Raj Kapoor. This was Jitendra's debut film, and he appeared like he was on sedative! in comparison to his later films, in which he was the "jumping jack!" of Indian cinema.

Rajshree was a brilliant dancer who was born to dance rather than to act. This is one of two of V. Shantaram's greatest films, the other being "Janak Janak Payal Bhaje."

Another beautiful song from that movie---
