Good question about the law. I do not know if the woman could put a different name on the birth certificate if she knows who the biological father is.

I really adore Akshara post-leap for her courage to move past Abhimanyu. But honestly hiding Abhir from Abhimanyu is wrong. You cannot hide the obvious forever. Abhimanyu and Birlas don't deserve Abhir at all I agree. But lying to get your way through is kinda messed up. Once the kid learns the truth it will take more than a therapist or two to fix him. 🙄She should have just sent court orders for custody when the kid was born. She had a decent chance of winning custody sorely on the basis of the abuse she faced from the Birla family.

Plus the fact that Abhimanyu was mentally unstable for the most part after the death of Neil. Akshara would have won the custody if she faced him right there and then. Where is her power as a Goenka?

She cannot legally change the birth certificate of Abhir. She committed an illegal crime out of fear. She should have stayed true to herself and try to win the custody the right way!

The way I understand it is that there are new laws a BC does not need a fathers name to be registered.

A BC technically should have the biological fathers name so that it preserves the baby’s identity.

If the biological dad refuses to acknowledge the baby and is not willing to provide for and be responsible for the baby then mom can choose to leave the dads name empty.

Further I read that the mom can put “anyone” down ( like her new husband/ step dad) down as dad as long as the person accepts the responsibility of the child’s welfare willingly.

The dad’s name on BC can be altered to include the bio dad’s name later on, but will require a dna test and mom’s permission and court involvement.

But I doubt that they will use any of this , they will simply do something that is a plot convenience.
