I've watched all three seasons and I don't remember this character. Probably casted as a minor sidey role
it was a very short forgettable character...

That’s not the same like what’s happening in India. It’s not like Mindy removed Maitreyi or something to make way for a nepo. Very different than what has been done by Ananya, Janhvi, Alia etc
I don’t think certain forum “nepotism lover” understand what the core issue of nepotism means in Bollywood. They’re too busy obsessing over useless Alia. We understand nepotism is everywhere and they get opportunities - that’s not what the issue itself is though. The issue is when you manipulate PR, pull down others and rob/steal work.
I think it is quite the same. Deacon Phillipe getting an audition or role because of his parents means that someone somewhere did not get a chance. The reason "Nepo babies" has become a thing in western TikTok culture is because nepotism means that some ordinary person does not get their fair shot.
And it is 100% true that Ananya, Jhanvi, Alia, and many others got a role simply because of who their parents are and doing so meant that some people didn't get a fair chance.
Although, I feel Alia has proven herself to be a talented actress (my perception, people are free to hate). But the fact that Ananya and Jhanvi keep getting movies baffles me. Jhanvi is mediocre and Ananya is atrocious.
someone get rid of them fast before my last brain cell dies
Literally every major celebrity in Hollywood has some sort of insider connection, either as a direct relative or through some other network, like when your daddy is a partner in Goldman and plays golf with network heads.
Jaden smith is very talented, I loved him in pursuit of happiness, he is a great actor and a great rapper, he actually writes his music. I don’t mind seeing actors or actresses who have talent. Konkona sen has her mom director but Koko is so talented that you forget

I don't remember him either. I checked and Reese's son played the hot indian dude's (Devi's brief love interest) friend who has a meltdown at Devi's party in season 3. It's literally a 5 min role in a 20 mins episode in an entire season. So forgettable that you people don't even remember, but def watch out for people dragging Mindy down for casting him as if it's a breakout role. This is so far away from what you see in Bollywood where last names have you in a lead role with no credentials. But you'll have people here equate both of these situations somehow.
I agree, apples to apples there is no direct comparison. A 5 minute small bit is nothing compared to repeated lead roles despite fizzling in every opportunity. And short-bit roles are often cast for fun or as a favor or just because. Creators have had friends, family, and even themselves cast in a bit role.
But people have made careers by making an impact in a 5-minute cameo. Or even been nominated for awards for a 5-minute role (King George in Hamilton). Even 5 minutes can be career-defining. So while it may not be a desirable lead role - for an aspiring actor it could have been the essential paycheck that takes them through to the next audition or the one shot that lets them prove themselves.
I'm not going to hold this against Mindy Kaling. When you're in the industry, it's just something you do.
Exactly.I look at it this way
Someone is passed over for a job. They eventually get a job but then pass someone else over to give something to their friend ? How are they any better ??? Thats legitimately the world. Don't try to paint anyone as angel since true angels are far and few in between

And this is why nepotism will always be a thing. Even, Mindy Kaling, an outsider who had to work very hard to make it big is complicit in giving roles to star kids.
People are rooting for Kartik because he is an outsider....Kartik is taking digs at the nepo kids....the same Kartik will launch his kid when time comes.......If anyone thinks that Kartik's kids are going to stand in the hot sun to give audition ....or Kartik will give preference to an outsider over his own kids..I don't know what to tell ya other than that u are too sweet and bhola bhala and may God always keep your innocence intact😆
How come millennial nepo were good looking n talented n than genz nepo. Many became superstars from first or second movie itself-hrithik,...
