This is typical desi mentality ffs. Just because something's widely prevalent we are supposed to accept the status quo as a way of life. As an audience I will rightfully crib, cry and whine over the fact that nepotism is promoting shoddy actors and sub-par content in the industry. Hollywood mein hota hein toh bollywood mein bhi hone do. What kinda logic is that 😳

And this is why nepotism will always be a thing. Even, Mindy Kaling, an outsider who had to work very hard to make it big is complicit in giving roles to star kids.

That’s not the same like what’s happening in India. It’s not like Mindy removed Maitreyi or something to make way for a nepo. Very different than what has been done by Ananya, Janhvi, Alia etc

I don’t think certain forum “nepotism lover” understand what the core issue of nepotism means in Bollywood. They’re too busy obsessing over useless Alia. We understand nepotism is everywhere and they get opportunities - that’s not what the issue itself is though. The issue is when you manipulate PR, pull down others and rob/steal work.

Star kids jo filmy mahaul me bade hote hain bachpan se sets me jate hain wo log agar actor ya film line me aye ye to normal si baat hai

Difference a jata hai ki kya wo log iske liye hard work kar rahe hain ki nahi, sirf isliye to nahi a rahe kyonki koi kisi ka beta hai

Not everything is nepotism

Agreed nepotism has always been present in the entertainment industries, but its presence is much more notable now in both BW & HW.

I do wonder the role of social media, influencer culture, and general economic disparities have played in leading to an outcry against nepotism. These nepo babies live very privileged lives and with social media, they can show off their excesses with ease, even when they fall flat at their jobs as actors, models, singers etc. And comfortably live in their own bubble without a care for anyone/anything outside of their special net. For ex Gwyneth Paltrow and her GOOP

Nepotism is not about talented star kids getting success it's about talentless star kids getting shoved down our throat.

Ppl don't cry that Hrithik or aamir or sunny deol etc came through nepotism because they had enough talent to be successful.

But today's star kids have no talent just PR activity is pushing them n trying to make audience believe that they r born talented n ppl r waiting for their launch. In reality they have just meme material 🤣

I will admit, that I am nihilistic. But I am not stopping anyone from complaining. I don't know why you inferred that.

Anyhoo, it does bother me that some people pretend that nepotism is unique to Bollywood. I also don't understand hypocrisy where nepotism is a problem in Bollywood but acceptable elsewhere. If someone watches Bollywood movies then it's fine for them to focus on Bollywood. But double standards do bother me.

I don't remember him either. I checked and Reese's son played the hot indian dude's (Devi's brief love interest) friend who has a meltdown at Devi's party in season 3. It's literally a 5 min role in a 20 mins episode in an entire season. So forgettable that you people don't even remember, but def watch out for people dragging Mindy down for casting him as if it's a breakout role. This is so far away from what you see in Bollywood where last names have you in a lead role with no credentials. But you'll have people here equate both of these situations somehow.
