And on top of that her majority scenes are with Atiqa. Atiqa looks all poised and glamorous. And then you have farwa in the same frame with her sasti fashion sense. 😆
Sophia's existence itself annoys me.. 🤡
I loved Mehak in her blush pink and white outfit. She manages to look so simple yet so beautiful. Mehak's an innocent beauty.. No wonder Shamsher fell for her instantly.. ❤️

Yes, this is how i too feel as a viewer.Originally posted by: mango.falooda
so I have been thinking some more about our previous convos -- I also think that the problem with the drama is that the actress playing mehak does not have enough expression to display the range this role requires. she is trying but she does not have the experience or the natural ability to emote subtlety.
with another strong actress like saba or sanam saeed, the viewer reaction would have been far different and would be more on the lines of the old movie "sleeping with the enemy". we would have felt her rage, her fear, her frustration, her calculation, her resignation -- everything! and viewers would have been in support for the girl to run.
in that movie, the abusive husband was great to watch because he did seem creepy for reals but julia roberts was far superior. here it is reverse. danish dances circles around her in terms of acting. this means, rather than the story being about mehak, it has instead become about shamsher. hence the confusion on whether shamsher is the antagonist or the love interest.
that said, in this episode, there were small moments that show that shamsher is not going to get his way completely. he can force mehak but he cannot force his family members or society to accept her. he is acknowledging that there is something off and mehak is not responding to him the way he thought. there is a distance but he is clueless about why there is. he is also a carbon copy of his father who thinks the world revolves around them. they both need brutal reality checks.
According to me, looks wise, Dur e looks the part for the role of Mehak. She is perfect for the role of a Mashrey ki ladki who is an innocent beauty. The producer, Abdullah Seja when casting her said she has a face meant for tragedy lol.. Dur e makes a beautiful pair with Danish onscreen and from whatever one can gauge, they have chemistry. That way the casting is spot on. Its all fine till there..
Now the problem is 1) Dur e is a new comer, hence not so experienced and still working on her craft. I dont really know if she was ready for such a huge project as a lead. Her performance has been very inconsistent and very flat. In most of the important or intense scenes, she struggles to give expressions. 2) She is cast opposite an established actor like Danish. Danish's performance is very strong. He literally takes over the screen everytime he appears. Shamsher's junoon, irrational behaviour, anger issues, etc is coming out very strongly onscreen. Since, Dur e's acting is very one tone and not matching Danish's, as a viewer we feel like the rage, the fear and the frustration in Mehak is missing or its not to the level that it should have been.
We all feel for Mehak and her plight because of whatever wrong Shamsher has done one after the other and the way the story is proceeding.. its basically cuz of our moral compass and common sense but not cuz of the actor's performance. Thats whats lacking. Dur e very rarely makes us feel for Mehak with her acting. Now whats happening is, for some its become quite one sided even though it actually isn't in terms of writing, but performance wise yes, and that clouds a viewer's judgement. The balance between Shamsher's Junoon and Mehak's helplessness might have somewhere taken a hit because of that. And the former is coming out more prominent. Mehak's character is just an average damsel in distress that we time and again keep seeing on tv screens. Its not really a difficult role. Not sure why Dur e is struggling. While watching Shamsher and Mehak's scenes, i feel as far as dur e is concerned.. most of the times my take away from those scenes is how she should have given more expressions than what Mehak did or didn't do in a scene. Thats how you realise she is under performing. Where as with Shamsher, im just focused on what he is doing and how thats gonna shape up in terms of the plot. So yes, i think performance affects the story telling in a big way, we may not realise it. Its a visual medium, the first thing that hits you is the performance and then its, what the character is doing or not and how the story is coming out.
