Ashok was happy as his plans were working. Sonia had told him everything how she was successful in planting the idea in Mini's mind about starting her life just like old days and she doesn't need to be guilty about it as her destiny has given her this chance. Now Ashok had planned his next moves cleverly. The seed of doubt and confusion was sown, now just right amount of care and he will get rid of that chef Neil forever.

Ashok was holding a three piece suit in his hands and he had his signature evil smirk on his face. When Babita noticed it, she couldnt help but ask for the reason.

"Mini had gone to get ready in the salon for tonight's party. She has left the salon and will reach here any minute now. Neil is alone for now in the room." Ashok informed.

"Huh! What?" Babita didnt get his plan.

"Come, instead of explaining, I will show you live." Ashok said and walked in Neil's room.

Ashok knocked the door and Neil opened. He was surprised to see Ashok there. "Mini is not back yet." Neil informed.

"No, actually I came to talk to you. You know tonight's party will be grand. I mean all of my business associates, many VIPs, every big shot of the city will attend it and why not...its my son's Manmeet's birthday party after all." Ashok started but Neil interrupted him as he didnt get his point.

"What do you wanna say Mr. Khurana?"

"Ab dekho, jaise bhi ho, tum mere damaad ban toh gaye ho. Aaj ki party mein tumhe sab dekhenge Mini ke sath to sawaal bhi karenge and tumhe judge bhi karenge. Main nahi chahta ki mere damaad ke bare mein log tarah tarah ki baatein kare ya tumhare status ko lekar log mazaak banaye. So I want you to be presentable for tonight's party. Isliye tum ye suit pehen lo." Ashok elaborated.

"What do you mean? I have brought my own clothes and I know you are filthy rich but I have decent clothes for tonight's party. I dont need any favours from you. Dont worry, you wont be embarrassed because of me." Neil replied in staright forward manner declining the offer. He was angry as how dare this man come and show off his riches while ridiculing him for his modest financial background. But he controlled his anger thinking about Mini.

"Dekho, ye bekar ki modesty dikhane se kuch nahi hoga. Rahoge to tum small time restaurant chef hi. Tumhari lottery lag gayi hai Mini se shadi karke...kya kar sakte hain hamari kismat hi kharab nikli toh. Lekin ab jo Mini ne tumhare sath rehne ka decide kar liya hai to kam se kam hamare status ke hisaab se rehna seekho. Party mein kya keh kar introduce karayenge tumhe sabse? Kaise lagoge tum hum sabke beech. Everybody would be wearing branded outfits worth of lakhs and you....a total misfit in our family and in Mini's life. Ab tumhare status ka to kuch nahi kar sakte lekin kam se kam dress up to hamare jaisa karo." Ashok continued to spill venom to provoke Neil.

However, Neil still hasnt given him reaction he wanted. Just then Ashok got a message on his phone informing Mini has reached home and walking towards her room only. Ashok bit his lip in nervousness. He had to so something to extract strong reaction from Neil.

"Tum jaise logo ki toh aukaat bhi nahi hoti aisi parties ka hissa banne ki lekin tumhe mauka mila hai to uska fayda utha lo. Bech do apna do kaudi ka restaurant aur Mini ko lekar yaha shift ho jao....Mujhe koi problem nahi hogi tumse. Waise bhi yaha itne naukar palte hain...tumhe bhi paal hi lenge." Ashok smirked at him as he saw Neil was fuming in anger.

"How dare you? Aapki himmat kaise hui mujhse aise baat karne ki. Samajhte kya hai aap apne aap ko?" Neil roared holding Ashok's collar.

"Neil! What are you doing? Mere papa se aise kaise baat kar sakte ho tum?" Mini who had just arrived witnessed her father getting mistreated and immediately came in his defense.

"You...you dont know Mini..he was..." Neil tried to give explanation and noticed Ashok's expressions changed from evil smirked to a emotionally hurt person. Neil was shocked but till he realized what Ashok has done, it was too late. Mini had bit the bait.

"He was what?" Mini asked for explanation.

But before Neil could have opened his mouth, Ashok grabbed the opportunity and acted as if he has been insulted and his feelings were brutally hurt. "Mini beta, main to bas...main to Neil ko apni taraf se ye chhota sa gift dene aaya tha. I thought tumhe achha lagega but Neil took my gesture in wrong way. Usko laga jaise main usko insult kar raha hoon aur na jane isne mujhe kya kya nahi sunaya. Beta, I swear main to achhe mann se ye gift lekar aaya tha lekin lagta hai Neil mujhe mauka dena hi nahi chahta." Ashok said almost sobbing.

"Mini, ye jhoot bol rahe hain. He insulted me and..." Neil tried to clarify but the damage was done. He has been proved guilty in Mini's eyes.

"I dont want to listen to anything. You have to say sorry to my dad." Mini gave her judgement.

"What! Do you even know what he was saying to me. Its not my fault. He made fun of my status." Neil defended himself.

"I know my dad Neil, he can never ever stoop so low in life. He can never judge a person by his financial background. But I am noticing, ever since you have come here, you are feeling uncomfortable. It must be your own insecurities Neil that you found my dad's gift as a mockery of your status." Mini couldnt hear any word against her dad.

"Really? You think like this about me? After all the time we have spend together....you think I could be at fault?" Neil was hurt by Mini's one sided judgement.

"And you Mr. Khurana, ab samajh aaya aapka plan. Ye sab isliye na ki main Mini ki nazro mein gir jaun?" Neil asked again from Ashok as he angrily took step towards him.

"Did you see beta, he is still threatening me. Would I do something like that?" Ashok asked innocently from Mini.

"Enough Neil! Say sorry and end this matter." Mini declared once again.

"But..." Neil tried to argue further but Mini was not listening.

"I said say sorry to my father." Mini now was adamant.

"Fine! Sorry Mr. Khurana." Neil muttered sorry and walked out of there.

Mini hugged Ashok, "I am sorry dad. You had to go through it all because of me."

Ashok hugged her back, "Its ok my princess. Thats why I said to you many times that Neil doesnt fit in our family, he may never understand us. I heard what your friends advised you earlier and I think they are right. You should come back here again and we will start over."

Mini was silent. First her friends and now her father, all were advising her against this marriage and pregnancy and to be honest she herself was bending towards that decision. The only thing used to stop her from taking it before was Neil's nature. She knew he was a nice man but after the scene he created few minutes back and his persistence request of keeping this pregnancy was annoying her.

Neil, on the other hand went outside where guest had already started coming. He blinked his eyes repeatedly to keep his tears at bay which were threatening to fall anytime now. Mini...his Mini asked him to apologize to that filthy man Ashok Khurana. She thought he could be at fault not her father. Thats how she feels about him. The afternoon incident with her friends and now this scene with her father was dwindling his hopes. Now he feared that Mini might not return with him to Manali. Neil tried to take deep breaths to calm down but nothing was helping. He saw a waiter passing by and before he could think twice he had taken the whiskey glass and gulped the whole content in one go.

Mini didnt have any mood left to join the party but Ashok convinced her somehow. She promised she will come out in few minutes.

"Aapne ye achha nahi kiya. Neil aur Mini ko yaha bulane tak to theek tha lekin is tarah planning karke unke beech galatfemiyan dalna...ye achha nahi hai." Babita expressed her disapproval.

"Shut up! Mujhe mat sikhao ki mujhe apni beti ke life mein kitna interfere karna hai. I am only doing whats best for her." Ashok scolded her.

"Oh yes, main toh bhul gayi thi ki aap hamesha wo karte hain jo aapka mann karta hai phir chahe aapki family usse hurt hi kyu na ho jaye." Babita taunted him and left from there. Ashok looked down feeling guilty but only momentarily. After just few seconds he was his shrewd self again.

Mini came out in the party. As soon as Ashok noticed her. He gestured her to come over and together with Manmeet and Babita his side, he thanked everyone and said that his family is completed now.

"My daughter has returned to me and its the biggest blessing of God to me. Today is my son's birthday and I would like to announce his engagement with the grand daughter of Mr. Ahluwalia and also the merger of Khurana and Ahluwalia textiles." Every guest was shocked at the news of merger. Khurana and Ahluwalias were arch rivals in textile industries.

Mini was surprised to hear her brother's engagement. "Dad! When did this happened?" Mini asked.

Ashok took the mike again and answered on it instead of replying privately to Mini. As they say, love wins over all odds. These children fell in love and we elders decided to end the so called rivalry of our companies and amalgamate not only businesses but our families also."

Mini looked at the shy girl drapped in traditional saree coming forward with her family. She looked at the girl and noticed she was kind of introvert. She knew her brother Manmeet very well. He preferred extrovert, modern girl. She was wondering how did he fell in love with this girl.

Soon the cake was cut and ring ceremony happened. Then champagnes were opened and toasts were raised. "To our family." Ashok said and raised his glass.

"To our family." Everyone else repeated.

All enjoyed the champagne conveniently forgetting that one member of this family is neither even present with them nor they called him for the celebration. That member was Neil, their daughter's husband, a person whom at this moment nobody even considered as family.

Neil was standing and looking towards them from afar. From his place only, he raised the toast and gulped down his whole drink. He thought that he will somehow pass this evening and next morning will try his luck again by talking to Mini. But he didnt know, that there will be no next morning in the destiny of this relationship. To put the last nail on his hopes, entered Mickey.
